Rationale:  1.  Amending the second semester calendar:  We have some professional development opportunities that will require us to amend the second semester calendar.  One will require us to cancel school at SCHS and the other will require us to move some school dates.  None will add any days to your contract.

2.  Contract Negotiations:  The negotiations committee of the board, comprised of 3 board members will begin meeting in October with representatives from the SEA.  One of the items we need to consider is language allowing for incentive pay for identified items.  This is one of the requirements of the school improvement grant (SIG) at the middle school.  We also have some teachers who are teaching a dual credit class for high school and college credit and would like to have some way of providing support for the additional preparation for the college class.  Below is sample language I have worked with in other districts

     a.  Incentive Pay:  The board of education and the SEA will agree annually on incentive pay.  The board will officially adopt the “teacher incentive plan” in October of the current school year.  Items considered for inclusion in the incentive plan and the amounts paid will be reviewed annually and attached to this document as Appendix “?” following the October meeting.
