ASSOCIATE SUPERINTENDENT OF STUDENT SERVICES

• Fall “Parent Teacher Conferences” are scheduled for the week of October 19^th-22^nd. Our First Quarter of the 2009-2010 school year is complete on Friday, October 16^th.
• At our 10/06 Student Health Committee meeting, Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department informed us that Norfolk may be receiving some course of vaccine for H1N1 during the week of October 19^th.  We will be notified which schools will be receiving the vaccine and schools will proceed according to the Public Health Department’s directions.
• The report on our” Pre-K Program Progress”- as required by Rule # 11 has been completed, signed and sent into the Department of Education.
• Sixty-three (63) 4^th and 5^th grade students and sponsors from NPS attended a “Leadership Conference” at Wayne State College on Wednesday, October 7^th.  This year’s conference will focus on recycling “Going Green.”  This conference is sponsored by Region III Elementary Principals and the Wayne State College School of Education and Counseling.
• On October 21^st NPS 5^th grade students will be attending a play by the Omaha Theater entitled “Laura Ingles Wilder.”  The presentation is sponsored by the Norfolk Arts Center.  Another play will be presented in the spring for our first graders.
• There are several NPS Fine Arts activities on our schedule this month that you might want to attend:

              o   October 13^th is the Senior High Fall Concert     
              o   October 27^th is the Fall Orchestra Concert 
              o   October 24^th is the state Band Masters Marching Band Festival         

• Maintenance’s building and grounds have completed many of their fall projects and are focusing on winter readiness preparations.
