Rationale: 

The Bellevue Board of Education abides by the Nebraska Open Meetings Law.  A copy of the law is posted on the wall of our Board room.

Rationale: 

Administrative Recommendation: The information in sections B and D were sent to all members of the Board of Education for review.  The administration recommends approval by consent of the items in section B of the agenda identified with an asterisk and receipt of the information and proposals in section D identified with an asterisk.

Rationale: 

Administrative Recommendation:  Approve the Minutes of the November 9, 2020, Board of Education meeting.

Rationale: 

Administrative Recommendation:  Acknowledge receipt of the Treasurer's Report for November, 2020.

Rationale: 

Administrative Recommendation:  Approve the payment of claims totaling $4,571,189.15.

Rationale:  Administrative Recommendation:1) Patricia Rowland be released from her contract effective December 22, 2020 and that (2) Katherine Boeve be released from her contract effective June 30, 2021 and that (3) P.K. Simmons be released from his contract effective May 27, 2021.

Rationale:  Tonight the administration would like to propose an amendment to the 2020-2021 Teacher Negotiated Contract that was approved by the Board at the March 9th Board meeting.

Rationale:  Tonight the administration will ask the Board to approve the revision to the 2020-21 school calendar.

Rationale: 

The Board will receive an update on bond projects. 

Rationale: 

At the November 9th Board meeting it was approved for GP Architecture to solicit bids for the replacement of the rooftop units over the main gym area at Bellevue West. Tonight the Board will be asked to approve the bid from Ray Martin Co. in the amount of $285,000 for the replacement of the rooftop units at Bellevue West.

 

 

Rationale: 

At the November 9th Board meeting it was approved for the administration to solicit bids for five new buses that are budgeted for 2021. Tonight the Board will be asked to approve the bid from Cornhusker International Trucks in the amount of $570,800 for the purchase of five new International buses.

 

Rationale:  The administration will ask the Board for approval to purchase from Riverside Technologies, Inc. in the amount of $97,000 new desktop computers for the three middle schools Technology and Living Labs.

 

Rationale: 

Congratulations to the Bellevue East yearbook and newspaper staff on their success at the Nebraska High School Press Association Fall Awards. 

Newspaper won the Cornhusker, which is the highest award for journalistic excellence from the NHSPA. They also received a Golden Kernel for writing and coverage.

Yearbook won an Award of Distinction and received a Golden Kernel for coverage.

 

Rationale: 

The Bellevue East Academic Decathlon competed in an online competition the beginning of November. Only three out of 10 areas were tested (Cold War Art; Cold War Literature; and Math through Calculus).

Chloe Brockhaus, John Cook, Nadja Logans, Christine Vance, Melissa Linder, and Jerico Soratorio.  Other Novice competitors were Lillian Crouch, Jackson Meintsma, David Oxtoby, Zachary Seaman, and Chloe Zarp.
 

This was not a team competition, but an early every-student-for-themselves test.  It is designed to help shake out each school's competition teams.  Team competitions begin in the Spring. Bellevue East won 18 medals. In this competition there were eight schools competing:  Bellevue East, Creighton Prep, Elkhorn High, Elkhorn North High, Gretna, Gross Catholic, Papillion LaVista South, and Pius X.

Rationale: 

Congratulations to the Bellevue East Forensics team for placing third as a team at the Papillion Invite November 14th. Sam Fusco placed third in novice poetry, Chloe Fisicaro placed fourth in novice dramatic interpretation, and Lucien Watson finished 2nd in humorous interpretation. At the varsity level, Sydnee Wenninghoff placed fourth in dramatic interpretation, and Elijah Bullie finished second in both dramatic and poetry interpretation.

Rationale: 

Congratulations to two Bellevue East students for making the Nebraska Music Education Association All-State Virtual Band this year. They are Sara Vance, 1st chair and Christine Vance.

 

Rationale: 

The administration annually updates the Board regarding district student achievement as measured by various assessments and indicators.  Tonight’s update will include the district’s Class of 2020 ACT Graduate Report and an overview of the MAP Growth Fall assessment for grades K-10.

Rationale: 

The administration will give an update on the Bellevue Public Schools from the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Rationale:  Public Comment pertaining to items not otherwise on the Agenda must be submitted to the Secretary of the Board five days prior to the Board meeting.
