Teacher Contract Approval
Rationale:
Elizabeth Salzman has been offered a teaching contract for 2023-24 to fill the vacant middle school position.
|
Enrollment Option Request
Rationale:
Megan Oppliger-Belt of Johnstown wishes to option her children Malachi and Darien Marshall to Valentine effective for the rest of this school year.
|
Approve the 2023-24 School Year Calendar
Rationale:
The draft of the school calendar was provided to the Board at the February regular meeting. This represents the final draft for approval.
The calendar should be approved as a "final working draft" as the calendar is subject to change should circumstances merit change during the school year.

Superintendent Authorization for use of Category 2 Erate Funds
Rationale:
Our district qualifies for category 2 universal services fund dollars to address needs related to internet and connectivity. We have a well planned and coordinated effort with ESU17 to maintain our network of wireless access points, switches, and equipment in order to maintain a solid network.
We are in the process of securing proposals through Erate. ESU17 is helping us through this process. I would like to be authorized up to $40,000 knowing that it will likely be less depending on the successful vendor. This is in our general fund budget. We have only spent 14% of our technology budget in this area so far this year. Please see the attached PDF that has more of a cost break down related to this cat 2 e-rate project.

Certified Staff Resignation
Rationale:
Sara Salzman has submitted her letter of resignation effective at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year.
|
Ice Machine Replacement - Depreciation Fund
Rationale:
The ice machine, located in the storage area of the boy's locker room, is old and is not repairable. A new Scotsman ice machine was purchased from Midwest Restaurant Supply. It is recommended to use Depreciation Funds to replace this ice machine. However, the general fund or activity fund could also be used.

Policy Revision - Payroll Date
Rationale:
To better align with the meeting of the board meeting as well as other district obligations, we would like to move our payroll date from the 20th to the 15th of every month. This is a simple change that has no adverse affect on any employee or process and makes things more efficient for the district office.
This would take effect in July 2023.

Policy Revision - Field Trips & Excursions
Rationale:
In an effort to simplify policy 607.05, we would not like to require "written parental permission" for a simple local excursion that is within the school day. Of course, parents will be communicated with. Written permission will still be required for field trips that are outside of the city of Ainsworth.
