Accept the donation of 30 new children’s books from the Allegheny Intermediate Unit K-12 ESL Program in memory of Jessica Bartholomew, a former ESL educator with a connection to the Carlynton School District. Relevant Facts: The AIU organized the book drive to honor Ms. Bartholomew’s commitment to English Learners. The donated books were selected to reflect diverse experiences, cultures, and identities and will be added to the Carnegie Elementary library collection. Each book includes a memorial dedication in her honor. Other Important Information: The AIU selected Carlynton because Ms. Bartholomew had a connection to the District during her educational career. The donation is intended to continue her legacy of supporting English Learners and helping students see themselves represented in literature. Budget Impact: No cost to the District. |

Approve payment of the following certified prime contractor applications for the Carnegie Elementary Addition & Alterations Project in the total amount of $883,638.60. Relevant Facts:
The R.A. Glancy applications are certified for $294,240.60 for June and $178,899.75 for July. Enders' July schedule reflects $123,800 completed and stored to date and $12,355 in retainage. East West's July application reflects a revised contract amount of $1,565,318 after a $2,018 change order and a current payment of $33,750.90. Westmoreland's July application is certified for $272,227.85. Other Important Information: Applications have been reviewed/certified through the project's construction manager and architect/engineer as reflected in the submitted payment documents. Retainage is being withheld in accordance with the respective applications. Budget Impact: $883,638.60, charged against the existing Carnegie Elementary Addition & Alterations construction project budget and respective prime contracts. This action primarily authorizes progress payments under previously awarded contracts; the East West July application also reflects a $2,018 contract adjustment shown in its payment documentation. |

7.A. New Student Club
Description:
The purpose of the Carlynton Junior-Senior High School FreeStore club is to continue to provide students with access to food through the weekend backpack program and to have a pantry available for students having crisis food insecurity. The club fosters leadership, compassion and community service through student involvement.
The FreeStore Club supports Carlynton's educational mission by addressing food insecurity so students can focus on learning and fully participate in school. It also promotes leadership, responsibility, compassion, and community service by engaging students in planning, organizing, and operating the program. Student volunteers would help organize donations, stock shelves, prepare food bags, and support donation efforts. The faculty sponsor (Megan Thomas) would coordinate volunteer schedules to ensure all interested students have opportunities to participate. |
