Nonpublic Title IA Educational Services Agreement - Allegheny Intermediate Unit

Description of Request:

That the Board approve the nonpublic Title IA Educational Services Agreement with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit

Relevant Facts:

The District is required to provide Title IA services for students living in the Norwin School District who attend eligible non-public schools.
Mary of Nazareth school through the Diocese of Pittsburgh is participating in this Title IA nonpublic school service.
This agreement is for the provision of Title IA services in small group, intensive reading support for students who are District residents in the 2026-2027 school year.

Other Important Information:

The Diocese of Pittsburgh staff and Dr. Newell will regularly consult on the program.
The nonpublic amount is calculated by the District's 2026-2027 Title IA application, in consultation with the Diocese of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Budget Impact:

The agreement is currently valued at $2,456.57, based on the District's preliminary federal funds allocation.

Donation - Sunset Valley Elementary School

Relevant Facts:

In November 2025, Project Playground monies donated new playground equipment to Sunset Valley Elementary School.
The playground equipment was originally scheduled for installation in April 2026. Weather-related issues and project delays pushed the installation back until Spring.
Payments were made in the Spring by the PTA and through the NSDCF.
The remaining funds were used to purchase rubber mulch for the area around the equipment.

ATHLETICS AND ACTIVITIES

Student Trip - High School Ski Club

Description of Request:

That the Board approve the High School Ski Club trip.

Relevant Facts:

Jack Momeyer (Paraprofessional and Club Sponsor) and three (3) additional chaperones, plus approximately fifty (50) students will be traveling to Jay Peak, Vermont on Thursday, January 7, 2027 to Sunday, January 10, 2027.
In accordance with Board Policy 121 - Field Trips: Field trips scheduled out of state, and all field trips that require an overnight stay, shall be subject to prior approval by the School Board. Field trips scheduled in state shall be subject to prior approval by the Superintendent.

Budget Impact:

Cost of three (3) substitute teachers for one (1) day.
