EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE COMMITTEE AGENDA		MINUTES
I.	Call to Order	Meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm.
II.	Approval of Minutes	Director Lluberes made a motion to approve last month's meeting minutes. Mrs. Gentzler seconded the motion.
III.	Old Business:
	A. America's 250th Birthday Celebration	HS and MS: 9/11: Remembrance statement over intercom at 8:46 am, followed by moment of silence, lessons in Soc. Studies classes.
	B. Elementary Summer Challenge Results	Mr. Young is exploring "Unite for Good" campaign after seeing advertisement. Mrs. Behr shared that a book is read about boat rescue, which facilitates a discussion about everyday heroes. For Constitution and Citizenship Day: HS and possibly MS will have red, white, and blue spirit days. Summer Challenge Results: This was the first district wide summer challenge for elementary students to complete reading and math activities for 10 minutes for 4/7 days of each of 11 weeks. Parents would complete a Google Form to document completion. There were 110 students who participated and 36 of those completed activities every week. Dr. Mitzel shared pictures of happy students receiving goodies from the Dover Eagle Foundation.
IV.	New Business:
	A. Proposed Curriculum:
	1. ELA: English I, English II, English III, English IV	The HS English curriculum was tabled.
	2. MS CTE: 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Computer Science	MS Computer Science: Librarians are teaching STEM-related activities in the elementary school to encourage curiosity and understanding of coding. These MS courses are offered for 45 minutes for 45 days. It is a self-paced curriculum that provides opportunities for students to explore coding with various "robots." These courses include on-line safety training. They help students decide if they want to pursue computer science classes in the high school. 3. Mr. Young shared a graphic organizer of the DASD MTSS Framework: A Multi-Tiered System of Supports. Currently elementary students are being screened for reading skills, such as oral reading and phonics. Then they will be screened for math skills. This data helps determine Tier 2 and Tier
	B. Progress related to MTSS/start of the year	Students, who will be progress monitored on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. MS: Twice a week students have W.I.N. (What I Need) to have remediation of necessary skills by a teacher or if the student was absent. As determined by the Student Success team, students may have a teacher as a mentor in the Eagles Wings program. Tutoring is also offered for 25 minutes after school twice a week. HS: The HS uses Mid Morning Academy to meet the needs of the students. This year the time is used for clubs for two days of the cycle and the other days are for students to receive interventions in the classes that they need assistance. Working Lunch is also offered by administration for ninth and tenth graders who are failing 3 or more subjects.

III.	Old Business:
	A. Update on Stadium Scoreboard	New scoreboard has been installed and is working great The new scoreboard was hard wired from the old scoreboard Remote access is a problem due to interference (interference could be coming from 2 cell phone dowers on Route 74) Play clock had to be shielded 150 feet from the new scoreboard in order for it to work An option was to place the play clock on a cart and move 150 feet If the cell phone towers are not the cause there is a possibility that they could purchase an item at a cost of roughly $3,000 Mr. Fluke, Dr. Wiestling and Mr. Boyd are still working on the issue
	B. Update on Natatorium Pool Water Heater	New heater has been installed Water temperature is at a constant 82 degrees
	C. Update on Games at the Middle School	The security gates or fences are currently in their Q We are still looking at a few weeks out for installation
	D. Update on Facilities Grant	No information to report as of now It occurs that it will be awhile before the District will know anything If problems do occur, the Maintenance Crew is taking care of
	E. Update on North Salem Elementary Stormwater Management Plan	Progress is moving along Gordon L. Brown is working on this issue with Mr. Fluke Inlets and Outlets need to be kept open However this issue is structurally sound
	F. Update on High School Turf Field Fences	Mr. Fluke has received the final quote The cost to move the fences is roughly $18,000.00 Repairs to fix the opening at the top of the fences is roughly $6,000.00 (there are 3 sections) The School Board needs to decide to inform Mr. Fluke on the next step This cost of this project will come out of Capital Reserve
	G. Update on Dishwashers at Leib Elementary and North Salem Elementary	Need to check with Mrs. Renard on the updates
	H. Update on Logic Contracting Services Assurance Plans	The Purchase Order has been issued and accepted A problem occurred at the Middle School when the Software was updated Mr. Fluke made the contact and within 2 hours the problem was resolved The building has been cool for the past 2 weeks

Old Business: A. Human Resources - Updates for start of school year B. Overview of Audit process - Miranda Weaver					RECAPPED
New Business: A. Human Resources - Updates on staffing and subs B. Miranda Weaver - Cost analysis discussions - Sports participation C. Discussion of any main meeting agenda items D. Open Floor					A. Teaching still fully-staffed. High School Learning Support position will be opening up this month. Ad will be posted. We have a transition plan in place and will use case workers as needed. Our biggest staffing need for Special Ed is in the Middle School and High School. We will be meeting with new service providers because current is not meeting our needs. B. Mrs. Weaver provided data on participation in all sports from Kristie Harris in the Athletic Office. Participation as a whole is increasing year-to-year with over half of the sports increasing over last year. We also examined costs per sport as reported from our financial system. We track and submit this for Title IX. This included costs per sport, contributions (Athletic Boosters/fundraising) and expenditures. Dr. Wiestling believes some smaller sports are actually understaffed and we are likely not overstaffed in any sport. We'll need to update position titles before the next contract. Some examples include 7th-grade football and 9th-grade football coaches. We are reallocating and using these positions to Middle School football and JV football. Other examples exist. Most Dover sports historically have not had enough interest for coaches to make cuts, but that trend has been changing. We are beginning to see enough to make cuts in some sports such as baseball, girls volleyball and soccer. The Middle School Field does not have enough interest to field a team but we're hoping that will soon change with the recruiting being done by the new High School field hockey coach that we hired last year. Also discussed was the state of youth feeder programs for various sports.
