2.1. October's Superintendent Star recipient is Coach John Fontana of our Varsity Girls' Basketball program.
He started coaching middle school basketball at Saint Thomas More Catholic School and was part of the staff that won four Championships. He coached seven years of J.V. basketball at USC and they won 23 section games in a row with him as J.V. head coach. He was also on the varsity coaching staff at USC for those seven years and he made multiple appearances to the WPIAL Championship Game but as his daughter, Mira shared, he saved winning a championship for Cannon-McMillan. Coach Fontana has been an integral part of building a respected and successful program in a short amount of time. |
