7.D. Employment - Long Term Substitute Teacher
Description:
Approve the employment of Victoria Orischak, Pottsville, as a Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Emotional Support, start date August 28, 2026, contingent upon approval of a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Permit and completion of all required employment clearances. Due to the extended nature of this assignment, compensation shall be at the Entry (1st Year) Teacher - Master’s Level of the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit Education Association salary schedule, at a salary of $50,439, with benefits in accordance with the applicable agreement.

11.A. Water Testing for Lead
Description:
Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, school facilities where children attend school may test drinking water annually for lead. Results above 0.005 mg/L require an immediate exposure-prevention plan and alternative drinking water. A school entity that does not test must discuss lead issues at a public meeting. Results above 0.005 mg/L must be reported to PDE for public posting.

11.B. AESA Annual Conference
Description:
Dr. Anthony Serafini, Executive Director, and Annie Milewski, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, will attend the Association of Educational Service Agencies (AESA) Annual Conference on December 2-4, 2026, in Orlando, Fla. The conference provides professional learning and networking focused on current issues, innovative practices, leadership strategies, and emerging opportunities impacting educational service agencies and the school districts they serve. Travel and conference-related expenses will be paid from their respective IU29 budgets.
