15.1. Verkada Environmental Sensors
Description:
The Jefferson-Morgan School District has been exploring proactive measures to maintain healthy and safe learning environments. The District is not currently experiencing any known mold or indoor air quality issues. These efforts are strictly preventative. Over the past few weeks, the District has conducted a pilot program utilizing four Verkada SV23 environmental sensors at no cost to the District. These sensors monitor air quality, temperature, humidity, and other environmental conditions that could contribute to mold growth. The administration has been pleased with the data collected during the pilot and the ability to monitor environmental conditions in real time. This technology allows us to identify potential concerns early and take preventative action before minor issues develop into larger problems. Based on the positive results of the pilot, the administration is recommending the purchase of five additional Verkada SV23 environmental sensors through PCCD School Safety and Security Grant funding at a total cost of $7,577.50. Additionally, the District continues to work with Backtronix to explore custodial training and preventative treatment options, including a backpack sprayer and a product that could be applied twice annually to help reduce the potential for mold-related concerns. Our goal is to remain proactive rather than reactive. By utilizing real-time environmental monitoring, preventative maintenance, and appropriate custodial practices, we can better protect our facilities while maintaining healthy and safe learning environments for our students and staff.
Recommended Motion(s):
Request approval to purchase five (5) Verkada SV23 Environmental Sensors, including five-year licensing, from The Wilson Group at a total cost of $7,577.50, utilizing Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) School Safety and Security Grant funding, as outlined in the attached quote.

The project will proceed only upon final approval and receipt of PCCD School Safety Grant funding.
Recommended Motion(s):
