The program provides educational services within a 16-bed detention facility and focuses on competency development, restorative justice, vocational training, and evidence-based supports designed to strengthen academic progress and long-term outcomes for youth in custody.
The current name does not reflect the program’s restorative, competency-based, and future-focused approach. "Momentum Learning Center" better captures its focus on building confidence, skills, and forward progress. The name was selected through a robust feedback process involving JDEP staff and participating students within the program. PROPOSED ACTION: Move to approve renaming the JDEP program to the Momentum Learning Center and transferring operation of the program from the Medford School District to the Southern Oregon Education Service District, effective July 1, 2026. |
