During the June Board of Control meeting, the staff was asked to come up with some alternatives to consider and start developing a survey for school administrators.

The state office recommends charging staff with adding deadlines to the Sports Regulations that existing members must meet to add new teams in a team sport and remain eligible to participate in the postseason. This would apply to football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, lacrosse, and girls flag football.

VI.E. Participation on School Teams Outside of the Sports Season
Description (Appears on Agenda Report):
This item was brought to the Board for discussion during the June meeting. The state office is often asked for guidance by schools and event organizers regarding school representation in national events and other activities that occur after the TSSAA season concludes and in the summer. The staff would like to take this opportunity to discuss this with the Board of Control and ask for guidance on how we move forward with these inquiries. During the June meeting, the Board requested the staff research other state association's policies on this issue.

Valor requests an exception to the Independent Game Participation Rule for a senior girls soccer player who has the opportunity to represent her home country in the U19 Pan American Cup on October 5-13, 2026.

Obion County Central High School and South Fulton request a cooperative program in girls soccer with OCCHS serving as the host school. South Fulton has offered a girls soccer program in the last two years. School administrators will be present to make the request.

Harriman High School and Rockwood High School request an exception to form a cooperative agreement in soccer and girls soccer in order to be able to field a team. Both schools have hosted co-ops previously that have now dissolved.

VI.M. Collierville High School Lacrosse Tournament Request (11:30)

Collierville High School has hosted a large tournament early in the lacrosse season, which involves many school is Tennessee and from out of state. This year's Sports Calendar causes the tournament to fall during the preseason, which ultimately eliminates many schools from participating.

Tennessee Nature Academy is a charter school in Davidson Academy with an enrollment of 62 students in grades 9-12. They plan to participate in football, flag football, basketball, cross country, soccer and volleyball. The school is requesting membership effective immediately and wants to be included in the next classification alignment. They understand that they will not be able to participate in the post-season this school year.
