IV. Truth in Taxation Report - Public Input

Description:
The Board of Education certified the maximum proposed 2023, payable 2024, Property Tax Levy on September 26, 2023. At the Board study session, held on December 5, 2023, Marie Schrul, Executive Director of Finance, will provide information on the Truth in Taxation requirements, including the current budget and the proposed Tax Levy for Taxes Payable 2024. At this time, the public will have an opportunity to comment.
The Board of Education is required to adopt the final levy for Taxes Payable 2024 and certify to the county auditor on or before December 28, 2023. This is a report item. Action to adopt the Taxes Payable 2024 will be at the December 19, 2023 school board business meeting.

Description:
Dr. Lisa Meltzer, a licensed child psychologist and nationally-recognized expert on sleep, will be sharing research on the impact of changing school start times on student health outcomes. She’ll review research related to school start times and share examples from other school districts who have made the change to a later high school start time.
