Description:
Oregon law prohibits discrimination in all public elementary and secondary schools that receive state funding, including discrimination based on perceived race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or national origin. All comments during our public board meetings will follow these policies. I would like to highlight two of these policies: AC, Non-Discrimination, and ACB, Every Student Belongs, in regards to appropriate public comments.

Supporting fellow teachers, specifically sharing resources that have been a huge help in planning my lessons for my first year teaching environmental science.
Isabella Taylana
I just wanted to share something awesome I observed in a classroom on Thursday, October 3. Isabella Taylana's 6th grade science class had built enrichment toys for skunks out of old boxes. On the day I visited, the students got to meet via Zoom with employees from the aquarium and meet the two skunks, Jackson and Palmer, that they have there, and learn about the enrichment toys in their mew and what makes a good toy. The students then got to present their own toys to the aquarium employees and explain how they worked, and they got feedback on their toys to make them as effective as possible. What an amazing lesson! Students were super engaged, incredibly proud of their work, and they got feedback on real-world applications to their learning. Just wow!
