9.a.1. General Fund Transfer to Indigenous Peoples Fund
Description:
The District’s 2022-23 Adopted Budget includes appropriations of $100,000 in General Fund - Transfers Out for transfer to the Indigenous Peoples Studies Fund - Transfers In.
The Indigenous Peoples Studies Fund was created to pay for studies related to local indigenous peoples. Waldport High School has requested a portion of these funds for such activities occurring in October, including a field trip to the newly established Yakona Reserve in South Beach, Oregon. The district wishes to make these funds available as soon as possible for these purposes. Resources are more than adequate at this time to make this transfer and also meet the Board Policy requiring a 7% minimum ending fund balance in the General Fund. The Superintendent and Business Director recommend approving this transfer at the October 11, 2022 Regular Board meeting. Updated General Fund Transfers for October to include Music Programs Fund budgeted transfer of $300,000.
