8.2.a. Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Secondary Work-based Learning Enhancement Grant
Rationale:
On July 22,2019 Bristol Schools applied for the 2018-19 Connecticut Perkins Career and Technical Education (CTE) Work-based Enhancement Grant. The intent of the grant is to improve student access to work-based experiences through Perkins career cluster funded curricula and partnerships with regional business. The partnership developed between the local business community and the school district support students with work-based learning opportunities and allow for Bristol CTE teachers to enhance curriculum to meet new industry demands. The grant enhances various Perkins career cluster pathways including: finance, marketing, construction, hospitality and tourism, and marketing. The attached grant application showcases an innovative approach to building work-based experience through: (1) a food truck problem based learning thread, (2) partnership with local businesses, and (3) a design contest. The grant request a sum of $24,161.Update: On August 20, 2019 the State of Connecticut awarded the full content of the Perkins Enhancement grant to Bristol Public Schools. The CT Perkins Work-based grant application requires Board of Education support and approval for the awarded Perkins Enhancement monies.

8.2.b. Primary Mental Health Program Grant
Rationale:
The Board of Education has applied for the Primary Mental Health Program Grant through the State of Connecticut. Criteria of the grant require Board of Education notification of the application.
A Continuation Plan will be formalized and submitted to the Board of Education for explicit support for the continued implementation of the Primary Project. Matching funds will be requested in the 2020-2021 budget process to establish evidence of future sustainability of the program and its personnel. |
