Description:  This item certifies that the meeting was properly posted and conducted in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, as required by Texas Government Code, Section 551.001.

Description:  At Regular Board Meetings, the Board shall permit public comments, regardless of whether the topic is an item on the agenda posted with the meeting. Individuals who wish to participate during the Open Comment portion of the meeting shall sign up with the presiding officer or designee before the meeting begins as specified in the Board's procedures on public comment and shall indicate the agenda item or topic on which they wish to address to the Board. An individual's comments to the Board shall not exceed three minutes per meeting.

Description: 

The Administration requests Board approval of Lorenzo ISD’s 2026-2027 Certification of Compliance under Texas Education Code §39.008. The certification addresses district compliance with TEC §11.005, concerning prohibited diversity, equity, and inclusion duties, and TEC §28.0022, concerning instructional requirements and prohibitions.

The certification describes the applicable policies and procedures, notification to employees and contractors, and policy changes made to ensure compliance. The district reports no cost savings resulting from these compliance actions.

An opportunity for public testimony regarding the certification will be provided before Board action. Following Board approval, the superintendent will submit the certification electronically to the Texas Education Agency through AskTED by September 30, 2026.

Description:  If no further discussion or action remains, the meeting will be dismissed by a majority vote of the Board of Trustees.
