• We are bringing forward the Geometry curriculum for approval.

  • Geometry is the third course in our core BHS Math curriculum.  It includes the study of constructions, rigid transformations, congruence, similarity, right triangle trigonometry, solid geometry, coordinate geometry, circles and trigonometric functions.

  • Illustrative Mathematics is the core instructional resource we use.

• We are also bringing forward the Integrated Math II curriculum for approval.

  • Integrated Math II is an applied math course designed to meet the needs of students who need more time and practice to master high school mathematical standards.  Units of study include geometry and measurement, functions, linear functions, linear equations, linear systems and descriptive statistics.

We will be piloting a Data Science course at Bethel High School in the 2022-2023 school year

• This update is to inform the Board. 

• The State Board of Education just adopted the newly revised Healthy & Balanced Living Framework and recently released it to districts.

• The Framework includes Health Education and Physical Education curricular content for students in pre-K through Grade 12. Recent legislation called for additional content areas to be included in the health education curriculum.

• This framework provides a best practice approach for implementing a planned, ongoing and sequential curriculum that addresses physical, mental, social and emotional dimensions of health.

• The Framework includes the following:

  • National Health and Physical Education Standards

  • Essential core content (legislatively mandated content)

  • Grade level performance indicators 

  • Alignment to Social Emotional Learning Competencies (CASEL, 2019).

• We will be using the updated framework as we work on our PE & Health curriculum
