16.a. Bus Grant
Description:
Dr Paul, The Texas Clean School Bus (TCSB) program offers a grant called the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP). I applied for this grant in February with help from Angie Carter. Buses available for replacement are 2006 and older. We submitted the following buses for replacement: Bus #22 1998 Blue Bird Bus #31 1999 Blue Bird Bus #34 2001 Blue Bird Bus #35 2005 Blue Bird Bus #36 2005 Blue Bird Our next oldest bus will now be a 2011 model once these buses are replaced. With this grant, the grant will cover approximately 80% and we would be responsible for approximately 20%. When we purchase the new buses, the school is responsible for the full payment of the buses up front, and then will be reimbursed. I am waiting for a call from the Contracts department to find out the details and parameters of the grant. I think we have up to two years to purchase the buses. If the district approves the purchase of 5 buses, this will put the transportation department in a good position for the future. ($404,482)
