2. Recognition of Visitors/Communication from the Public

Rationale:
The board of education shall conduct its meetings in accordance with the Nebraska Open Meetings Act. The board shall make reasonable efforts to accommodate the public’s right to speak on agenda items. The board may make and enforce reasonable rules and regulations regarding the conduct of persons attending, speaking at, videotaping, photographing, or recording its meetings. The board shall not require members of the public to identify themselves as a condition for admission to the meeting, nor shall such body require that the name of any member of the public be placed on the agenda prior to such meeting in order to speak about items on the agenda. However, the board may require members of the public desiring to address the board to identify themselves. Speakers will be permitted to address the Board in a manner consistent with free speech rights. However, offensive language, defamatory remarks, and hostile conduct will not be tolerated.

3.1. Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action regarding the written resignation submitted by Mr. Matt Farup from his position as Superintendent/Elementary Principal, effective upon the completion and expiration of his current 2026–2027 Superintendent/Principal Employment Contract on June 30, 2027, including possible acceptance of the resignation and authorization for the Board President to execute a written acknowledgment consistent with the existing contract.

A motion was made by {Insert Board Member} and seconded by {Insert Board Member} I move to accept the written resignation of Mr. Matt Farup from his position as Superintendent/Elementary Principal, effective at the conclusion of his current 2026-2027 Superintendent/Principal Employment Contract on June 30, 2027.
Mr. Farup's current employment contract shall remain in full force and effect through June 30, 2027. Acceptance of this resignation shall not be construed as an early termination, cancellation, amendment, waiver, release, or forfeiture of any salary, benefits, expense reimbursements, rights concerning accrued leave, or other rights or obligations arising under the current contract, Board policy, or applicable law through that date.
The Board President is authorized to execute a written acknowledgment of acceptance consistent with this motion.. Roll call voting: . Motion {Insert Action Result}.

Discuss, consider, and take appropriate action to approve a superintendent search services agreement with the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) to assist the Board with planning and conducting the process of identifying, recruiting, evaluating, interviewing, and selecting the next superintendent of Verdigre Public School, and to authorize the Board President to execute the agreement and related documents on behalf of the District.
