4.A. Formative (mid-year) Evaluation of the Superintendent (Shawn Saladin)

4.A.1. The Superintendent will continue to provide leadership for TSD to better communicate with the general public and the Governing Board about the positive activities, programs, accomplishments, and school improvements to increase community awareness and understanding.

Indicators and Measurement: To the extent that resources allow, the Superintendent will support the following activities:

Continue collaborating and meeting with special education and deaf education leaders across the State to foster shared learning and advocacy.
Continue to enhance TSD's social media campaign to reach a broader audience and showcase school achievements and events.
Continue to increase engagement with the TSD Foundation to build community contacts and seek alternative funding sources through public sponsors and private donors.
Continue with five general staff meetings per year to enhance staff engagement and communication.
Address community concerns.

4.A.2. The Superintendent will continue to provide support and oversight to maintenance projects and campus planning efforts to ensure the safety of students and staff and compliance with legislative intent.
Indicators and Measurement: Activities may include:

Continue collaborating with TFC and the Director of Operations on construction projects.
Continue providing Board with periodic updates on construction, facilities and operations.
Continue developing a strategy for the next task in the Campus Plan.

4.A.3. The Superintendent will develop the Agency Strategic Plan and the Legislative Appropriations Request for 2026-2027.
Indicators and Measurement: Activities may include:

Continue maintaining the Agency Strategic Plan for 2021-2026 including Statewide Vision, Agency Priorities, Customer Service Report, Performance Measures Changes, and Supplemental Schedules.
Continue conducting visits with LBB and GOBP analysts as well as Legislative Leadership.
The Superintendent will continue working with the CFO and the PIO to develop and vet exceptional item requests for the LAR with the Governing Board in year 2.
Continue developing the administrator’s statement that highlights significant changes in policy, provisions of service and purpose of new funding requests.

4.A.4. The Superintendent will continue to provide leadership designed to improve student performance and promote academic achievement within the departments of the School.
Indicators and Measurement: Activities may include:

Continue focusing on Reading and Math scores on MAP and STAAR.
Continue leadership capacity development for administrators and supervisors.
Continue providing cross-training and staff development for key leadership positions.
Continues to support mental health initiatives and what staff can do to support students’ experiences (processing, affirmations)

4.A.5. The Superintendent will continue to focus on ensuring that students have a safe and secure learning and living environment.
Indicators and Measurement: Activities may include:

Continue supporting the work of the school-wide Safety Committee.
Continue conducting campus climate risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
Continue increasing drills with the goal of improving preparedness and response time to potential emergencies.
Continues to support mental health initiatives and what staff can do to support students’ experiences (processing, affirmations)
