4. Opportunity for Audience
Description:
Any citizen who would like to address the Board will be able to do so as the item on the regular agenda. Comments will be limited to 2 minutes per subject. If further time is needed, concerns should be addressed to the Superintendent. Personnel matters will not be discussed in a public meeting. Items that appear under the heading Routine and Regular Business will not be discussed or comments taken unless it is requested that they be removed from that category and placed on the regular agenda. Action on Routine and Regular Business will be acted upon with one motion and one vote. |

Best Attendance Elem - Sunset Elementary
Best Attendance Secondary - CHS Most improved Attendance - Riverside Elementary Makenna Akinloye - Student at CHS - Student Advisory Council - opinions are helpful - what we enjoy most at CHS - able to underhand my classes more. Bathrooms need help, problems. Security Guards are helpful. Lunch lines out of hand. Much time to eat. Parking situations and student parking are quite chaotic. More parking in January. Wi-Fi is much improved. Especially during MAPS testing. Proximity Teachers - replaced. BPA Transportation help to state conference. Obtain buses for transportation for the . Take notes and care. They are on it. Honest feedback and steps are taken to improve. Dr. Washburn - Superintendent's report - MAPS - state required interim assessment. Standards based, great progress 439 first graders 85% of them. Two categories - advanced or proficient. 33% to 47% proficient from fall to winter. 2nd - 36% proficient from fall to winter. 3rd 91% 43% proficient. 4th 89% 27% Proficient 48% nearing proficiency.5th 80% tested 42..... Covid equivalent of those in a war. Middle school groups are most impacted. We are seeing the kind of growth we need to see. Cottonwood - easiest way to see where students are Math - beginning of year - 4 quadrants enrollment 12/13/24 7,264 kids enrollment August 7,145 typically mean adjustment on our funding. Educators - have 34 1/2 general ed vacancies 21 sp ed teachers 11 new in January. Month of Dec. hired 9 gen ed. and 3 sp.ed. teachers; vacancy report includes proximity teachers; dissolving proximity teachers - (licensed teachers) hiring - every chance we have to put a teacher in the classroom we can. Continue to update. Interim State Testing. |

Discussion:
Considering the area, need families. This type of housing will not help in attracting teachers. May not be what we need and may not stay in Carlsbad. TEachers coming in now are single. Fresh out of college, single. are requesting apartments.More females are being recruited. Gated community. Recognize that we do what can be done to keep teachers safe in regards to housing.
