Principal's Report
Agenda Item Type:
Action Item
Discussion:
Mrs White gave the elementary board report. Ms. Shaw collaborated with the high school and utilized the kitchen to bake cookies with her students, connecting math skills of measuring into real life kitchen skills. Cookies were distributed to staff as a token of Thanksgiving. 4th Grade participated in Socktober, collecting socks to donate to Godtel in Nacogdoches as a service project to provide socks to the homeless. Angel Tree served 19 families, totaling 61 students. We had great support in those donating and contributing to make this possible. We would like to give a special thank you to Lauren Barton for organizing Angel Tree. Our cafeteria staff worked with PreK-1st grade to make ornaments. Each grade has a different design, for our families to have 3 separate ornaments as their child grows. Music has been rehearsing for our Christmas program. This year, 5th grade will be included in the Christmas Program. Middle of the Year testing windows will be open, with our first grade dyslexia screeners being completed by January 30th. Mrs. Jeans and her class will recognize one boy and one girl from each grade level for Icon of Integrity. She worked with Mrs. Phillips to develop this recognition. The EC Life Skills classroom will be gaining two three-year olds. We have been working through our truancy and 90/10 lists assigning after-school detentions and Saturday Schools to help students earn credits for missing too many days, or having excessive tardies.
Mr. Massey gave the middle school board report. Six GMS band students will be competing in All Region on December 12 in Carthage. Basketball is going well as the boys are undefeated and the girls have just one loss on the season. They had 23 FFA students attend the Area IX Greenhand Camp at Nacogdoches County Expo on December 10. Teachers and students are working hard in preparation for UIL. We have 91 students competing on January 14. GT students are currently working on various projects including drones, 3D printing and coding. FCA continues to thrive as we pack the library every Friday morning. Mr. Autrey gave the High School Report. Final Exams are this week. The OAP cast has been chosen. EOC re-testing is complete. Basketball is in full swing. The varsity girls have their first district game tomorrow. The all-region band was this past Saturday. FFA just had students participate in Greenhand camp. |
