March 14, 2016 at 5:00 PM - Goals Committee Meeting

Description:  On April 4th at 5:00 p.m. we have scheduled a special meeting of the Board with the administrative team and the district teacher leadership team.  We are scheduled to meet in the Commons at the high school for a two-hour meeting regarding the strategic planning framework.  I would like to discuss with the committee the agenda for this meeting.

My initial thought is to begin the meeting with an overview of the history/story behind the strategic planning framework -- when did it begin, where did the data come from, whose input is included, how the framework will be used, and when and how it will be reviewed.

After the presentation of the framework, I think it would be beneficial to break the participants into smaller groups  to discuss select action play areas, and particularly focus on how to measure progress in the various arenas we are targeting in this plan.  Measurement and data is a common discussion at all levels and I think it might be a good place to receive input and be part of a dialog with a diverse group.

I see teachers, administration, and board members equally participating in the discussions.  

We can review this option and discuss others in more detail on Monday.   If you have any other ideas, please bring them to the table for discussion and consideration.

Description:  I would like to discuss with the committee the topic and format for a spring Linkage Meeting.  I think a natural topic is the Strategic Planning Framework, and we could target specific areas of the plan for more dialog and input.  A potential area of focus could be the Community Engagement domain, for example.  I would like to discuss your general feelings on what you would like the focus of a Linkage Meeting to be, when to hold it, and how we want to proceed with advertising/inviting participants to the process.

I would like to consider the end of April, if possible.  If that is the goal, then I would like to set the date at the regular board meeting on Monday so we can proceed to get information out about the event and prepare for the program.

I open to other ideas -- please bring them to the meeting on Monday for us to discuss.
