Monday, December 9, 2024,  beginning at 6:00 PM in the Board Room at 

705 East Washington Avenue, Navasota, TX 77868. 

If during the course of the meeting covered by this notice, the Committee should determine that a closed or executive meeting of the Committee is required, then such closed or executive meeting as authorized by the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Section 551.001 et. seq. will be held by the DEC at the date, hour, and place indicated in this Notice or as soon after the commencement of the meeting covered by this Notice as the Committee may conveniently meet in such closed or executive session concerning any and all purposes:  551.071, 551.072, 551.073, 551.074, 551.075, 551.076, 551.082, 551.083, 551.084.

Should any final action, decision, or vote be required in the opinion of the Committee with regard to any matter considered in such a closed or executive meeting or session, then the final action, decision, or vote shall be either in an open meeting or at a subsequent public meeting upon notice thereof, as the Committee shall determine.

The subjects to be discussed or considered or upon which any formal action may be taken are listed below. Items do not have to be taken in the same order as shown on this meeting notice. 

In accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC), §37.1083, each school district and open-enrollment charter school is required to submit information requested by TEA in their efforts to monitor the implementation and operation of school district safety and security requirements. Sentinel will serve as the data reporting mechanism and repository for all safety and security-related data submitted by school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, campuses and other entities to TEA.

Sentinel is comprised of four primary components:

• Statewide Programs - school safety initiatives required by state statute and under the purview of TEA’s Office of School Safety and Security which include:
  • Intruder Detection Audits,
  • Behavioral Threat Assessments,
  • District Vulnerability Assessments, and
  • Emergency Management;
• Data Integration - connecting data from multiple sources across an organization to provide a complete, accurate and current dataset for data analysis and other applications and business processes; 
• Tools and Resources - elements or components of the systems that the user can interact with or use to gain a better understanding of their work; and 
• System Supports - elements and processes designed to facilitate the functioning, optimization and automation of the system.
