Education 2015 Summer Schedule.

6.I. Gator Gallop. The Gator Gallop will be held Saturday, March
28, 2015. The 1-Mile run will begin at 7:30 a.m., the BASF Kid’s Fun Run will
begin at 7:45 a.m., and the 5K run will begin at 8:00 a.m. The race will be
held in front of the gym and registrations are being accepted in advance
through The Driven website (www.thedriven.net)
or on the day of the race at the gym.

6.J. 2015 Career Fair. Brazosport College will host
its annual Career Fair on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. The event serves
approximately 1,700 juniors from the Angleton, Brazosport, Columbia-Brazoria,
Danbury, and Sweeny Independent School Districts. A variety of activities that
are designed to provide career and educational information will be provided
through this cooperative effort between Brazosport College, the ISD’s,
business, industry, and civic organizations. This year marks the 22nd
time Brazosport College has hosted this very unique and exciting event.

6.K. 2015 Employee Recognition Dinner. The 2015
Employee Awards Recognition Dinner will take place on Friday, April 10, 2015,
at 6:30 p.m., in the Corporate Learning Center.
Board of Regent members and their guests are invited to attend the
annual event.

6.L. Counselor/Administrator
Dinner. The annual
Counselor/Administrator Dinner is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2015, at
6:00 p.m., at the Dow Academic Center.
The dinner and program provide a forum for conveying appreciation for
the work of ISD administrators and counselors who collaboratively work with
Brazosport College in efforts to support college readiness and student success.
College Board of Regents members are invited as guests of the College.

6.M. 17th
Annual Foundation Challenge Golf Tournament. The 17th
Annual Foundation Challenge Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, April 17,
2015, at the Wilderness Golf Course. Gerald Andrews and Dave Lezak will serve
as co-chairs of the committee. Flyers were sent out in the first week of March.

6.N. Pre-Board Workshop. On April 20,
2015, there will be a pre-board workshop for a budget study session at 5:30
p.m. in the Corporate Learning Center.

6.O. Distinguished Student
Ceremony. Brazosport College
annually recognizes up to 20 students who are selected through a college-wide
nomination process as distinguished students. The 2014-2015 Distinguished
Student Awards Ceremony will be held April 22, 2015, at 12:30 p.m., in The
Clarion. College Board of Regents members are invited as guests of the College.

6.P. Gator Grab Auction/Gator Day. The annual
Gator Grab Auction is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 10:00 a.m.–1:00
p.m. in the Student Pavilion. The event
is to raise funds for scholarships and is held in conjunction with Gator Day
which is sponsored by Student Life.

6.Q. ADN Pinning Ceremony. The ADN
Pinning Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 6:00 p.m., in The
Clarion.

6.R. 2015
Commencement. Commencement exercises
for the 2014-2015 academic year are
scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2015, in the Dow
Academic Center. Mrs. Debra Grandjean, Brazosport College Distinguished Alumnus
2005, will be the commencement speaker. In
order to accommodate the increasing number of graduates and their families, two
ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Each ceremony will have a reception for
graduates immediately following. The
college will host a lunch for faculty, staff, commencement guests, and board
members in between the ceremonies.

6.S. Community
Education Graduation.
Community Education Graduation
ceremonies for students
completing Adult Basic Education
and Workforce Programs will be held on Thursday, May 14,
2015, at 6:00 p.m., at The Clarion.

6.T. ACCT Leadership Congress 2015. The
46th Annual ACCT Leadership Congress is scheduled for October 14 –
17, 2015, in San Diego, CA. The theme for
the Congress is High Expectations: The New Community College Model. Registration for the conference is now
open and is to be made through Serena Andrews, Vice President, College
Advancement. Two members of the Board of
Regents are encouraged to attend with Dr. Millicent Valek, President.

6.U. SACS Reaffirmation
Update. The Dean of Planning, Institutional Effectiveness
and Research provides the attached update on the SACS 2016 reaffirmation
process.

6.V. Construction
Update.
- M wing door hinges have been installed and the project is now complete. - Welding Lab: o Under slab electrical and plumbing is being installed o Tilt wall pour beds are being built o Retention pond enlargement is now complete o Drain into retention pond is under construction o Earth work for the parking lot is underway - Transit Shelter: Work on the Transit Shelter is moving along with installation of the television, security camera, emergency phone, benches, and landscaping yet to be accomplished and it is expected to be completed during the first week of April. |

Review.
At the Board Workshop on February 13-14, 2009, Regents initiated a
systematic review of Board policy. It
was suggested that a number of Board policies be included for review as part of
each monthly agenda. Questions regarding
the referenced policies may be addressed to the President prior to the meeting
for clarification and/or discussion.

Civil Rights On-site Review. Marshall S. Campbell, Vice President, Human
Resources, and Beth Cassidy, Director, Workforce Development, shall present a
report updating the Board of Regents on the Coordinating Board’s Civil Rights
On-site Review, which occurred on February 23 – 25, 2015.

8. New Business

8.A. United Way. In order for
Brazosport College to participate in the local United Way campaign, the Board
of Regents must exercise its option to do so.
This action provides local Boards the option of choosing not to
participate in the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC). A communication from the Vice President,
Human Resources, recommending participation in the United Way of Brazoria County
is attached.
It would be appropriate for the Board to exercise its option not to participate in the SECC for the 2015 campaign.

Education Tuition and Fees for Summer 2015. Attached is a communication from the Director, Community
Education, recommending tuition and fees for all Summer 2015 Community
Education Courses.
The President recommends approval of these fees as presented. It would be appropriate for the Board to approve this recommendation.

8.D. Sale of Property Held in Trust. Attached is a
communication from the Brazoria County Tax Office containing a recommendation
from the Property Tax Resale Committee of Brazoria County for the Sale of
property held in trust by Brazoria County (Account No.8110-0040-000).
It would be appropriate for the Board to approve the Sale of Properties Held in Trust.

Statements. The financial report for February 2015 is included as a

It is recommended that the Board accept the financial statement. Executive Session - Room 105 The Board will meet in closed session for the following purposes pursuant to Sections 551.071 and 551.074 of the Texas Government Code: (1) Personnel. To deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employee or to hear a complaint or charge against an officer or employee. (2) Legal. For the purpose of a private consultation with the Board’s attorney on any or all subjects or matters authorized by law, including discussion of a proposed settlement of a grievance by a former employee, John Creech.
