Description: 

All speakers are asked to complete the listening session with a Sign-in Card including as much detail as possible and including a printed / written copy of your presentation if one is available. The Sign-in Cards are at the table by the entrance door, and anyone who has not called in or emailed the Superintendent, in advance, may complete them now. Please include all requested information on the Sign-in Card so administration can provide follow-up as needed.

This is an opportunity for the Board to listen, the Board will not engage in dialogue. As a general rule, the Board will not comment on or respond to any comments made by speakers. Please do not include names of Badger Community School employees or representatives, their title, or location in your remarks for your own legal protection and the legal rights of staff.

Each speaker will have five (5) minutes to speak; speakers may not roll their time to another speaker. Speakers will be timed and are asked to complete their comments in this time frame. Board members may ask questions if needed.  Please begin your presentation by stating your name and topic only.

7.B. Transportation Department Report:  Our fleet of 12 vehicles was DOT inspected and stickered on Monday, February 6, 2023 for continued service.

7.C. Minnesota School Board Recognition Month is February!

Badger is joining other school districts from across the state to celebrate School Board Recognition Month honoring our local board members for their (each of you for your) commitment to our students.

The key work of boards is to create a safe, orderly climate where students can learn and teachers can teach while focusing attention on the need for continuous improvement by questioning, refining and revising issues related to student achievement. Even though we’re making a special effort to show our appreciation this month, a school board members’ work is a year-round commitment.

7.D. Minnesota School Bus Drivers Appreciation Day - Feb. 22

Badger is joining other school districts from across the state to celebrate School Bus Driver Appreciation Day in conjunction with the MN School Bus Operators Association (MSBOA) and MN Association for Pupil Transportation (MAPT).

Bus Drivers transport the most precious cargo – our children!  

Currently serving our Badger Transportation Department with no one intentionally left out: Tim Berger, Mike Coltom, Tommy Dann, Tom Dostal, Orlan Dvergsten, Jeff Howell, Lacey Foss, Curt Larson, Sylvia Maurstad, Kevin Ricke, Carla Sunsdahl, Jeramy Swenson, Alan Truscinski and Ed Walsh. Type III Expedition/Transit drivers are Tami Davy, Striker Hasson, Diann Hauger and Nicole Wilt.

Description:

There are some calendar dates approaching to be aware of exploring voter-approved boiler replacement (IAQ or HVAC projects) and other betterments to the school in the future.

Exploring summer of 2024 project: May 26, 2023 would be the 74 day prior-to-election advance notice requirement to adopt a resolution calling for special election vote to be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Exploring summer of 2024 project: August 25, 2023 would be the 74-days prior-to-election advance notice requirement to adopt a resolution calling for election vote to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

Summer of 2025 project: December 1, 2023 would be the 74 day prior-to-election advance notice requirement to adopt a resolution calling for election vote to be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

7.G.4. Exploring BGMR Wrestling Cooperative expanding to include Tri-County (Karlstad, MN).  Resolutions may be forthcoming as early as Badger’s March School Board Meeting.

Description:

If a BGMR + Tri-County Wrestling Cooperative is to arise in the future, then both School Boards of Badger and GMR would need to first dissolve the current cooperative in order to create a new expanded wrestling cooperative.

Greenbush-Middle River’s next School Board Meeting has been delayed to Monday, February 27 due to Presidents’ Day being a restricted no-meeting night.  GMR may or may not present resolutions related to expanding the wrestling cooperative at their Feb. 27 meeting.
