1. Update on Construction Project
Description:
The first day of school is coming up soon. We will be ready for the return of our students and employees. There will, however, be some construction related items everyone is going to need to roll with for a short period of time. Below are some of the highlights that come to mind. The elementary school remodel is not going to be ready as planned. We are waiting on the tile for the bathrooms. The tile will likely not be here until the middle of September. The bathrooms will be closed until October. Students will need use the other three bathrooms in the school. The new flooring in the lunchroom will be installed during employee workshop week (Sept. 6-9). Everything at the MS-HS is scheduled to be ready as planned. I anticipate there will be some hiccup with this building too and we'll roll with it. Here are some of the items to be finished this upcoming week: 1. Terrazzo flooring in student Lion's Den will be completed on Monday. They are working over the weekend. 2. Student lockers in the Lion's Den will be installed this week or the next. 3. Four math classrooms will be finished on Monday with the installation of carpet. 4. The north corridors and classrooms will all be completed and ready by the end of next week. The carpet being installed on Tuesday is the final touch on the corridors. The tiled walls and LED lights look great! 5. The MS-HS office area will be carpeted on Tuesday. They are almost done with the ceiling tiles and lights. 6. My guess is they should wrap up the kitchen remodel this week. What is left are ceiling tiles and lights and equipment install. 7. The science classrooms and labs are being painted this weekend. This week the floors will tiled and ceiling tiles and lights installed. 8. The shops appear to be the biggest mess for me. Mr. Bratsch and Mr. Skwira will probably have the most work to get ready for the school year. Right now Mr. Swira's classroom is wall to wall with his shop equipment. You cannot even open his classroom door all the way. Lots of work to do for our teachers and custodians. 9. Furniture for the completed areas will arrive on Wednesday and be installed through Friday. This includes furniture for the four math classrooms, four science classrooms and labs, art classroom, MS-HS office area, Lion's Den, student lunch tables (MS-HS and Elementary), and secure elementary office. |
