1. Open Meeting Law and Vote "YES" Spaghetti Dinner
Description:
I emailed Greg Abbott at MSBA the following message: "Good Morning, The Royalton School District will be asking district residents for building bond dollars at a special election on January 6, 2015. A public Vote "YES" committee is having a spaghetti dinner on Sunday, November 23rd to provide information about the proposal. It is possible a quorum of school board members may be at this event. What are the requirements for informing the public? Can I place something on the school district web site stating this or do I have to in addition send something to our local newspaper? Thanks for your advice, Dr. Jon P. Ellerbusch 320.360.9192" Greg Abbott's response was: "Jon, The open meeting law has an exception for “social events.” Being at the fundraiser is just like a majority of the board being at a football game or at church. The key is this: They should NOT talk board issues and they should try to ease perception as much as possible by not all hanging together and talking together. Hope that helps." |
2. MSBA Forms for Superintendent Evaluation
Description:
Michelle and I visited with Sandy at MSBA about moving toward a goal-based annual evaluation for the superintendent. We'll work on this after the first of the year. For now, please find attached two forms MSBA sent us for the superintendent evaluation. Michelle, please let me know any help you need disseminating and/or collecting each board member's completed form. I'm not sure which one you've decided to use. |
3. Eligibility for Free and Reduced Meals - Years 2013-14 and 2014-15
Description:
I thought you may be interested knowing the percentage of qualified families for free and reduced meals decreased 6.5% between last school year and the current one. In the 2013-14 school year it was 31.7% qualifying and this year in 2014-15 it's 25.2%. Although the significant decrease in qualified families has a negative financial impact on the Royalton School District, this may be a positive sign of an improved economy and family household income. This would be a very good thing for our parents and children! |
4. Weekly Newsletter to Elementary Parent
Description:
A board member asked if they could receive the weekly newsletters sent home with our elementary students. Dr. Gurbada set up a link on the Royalton Elementary School web portal. You'll find it on their front page in the "Quick Links" and then the "newsletters" tab (see attached picture) |
5. Weekly Bills
Description:
Please find attached the weekly bills for your approval. |
