June 6, 2014 at 4:00 PM - Superintendent's Weekly Update to the Board of Education
Agenda |
---|
1. Meredith Posch's Request for Extended Leave Under MS 122A.46
Description:
Please see attached Kevin Rupp's confidential response to Meredith Posch's request for extended leave under MS 122A.46. I will place it on the June board agenda. My recommendation is to not approve the request because of concerns for continuity and consistency in our Title I program. |
2. Gifted and Talented Symposium
Description:
I will be out of the office most of next week. I'm attending the gifted and talented symposium with Phil and Shari. I'll be there Sunday through Wednesday. |
3. Payments to Board Members
Description:
Board members have been paid quarterly in the past, but we are able to pay more often (per pay period or monthly) if any of you are interested in doing that. We also thought it would be a good idea to set up a payroll deduction for the internet hot spot as well. Board members would need to turn in time sheets at the end of each month in order to be able to pay their hot spot bill through payroll. Please contact Kelsie if you are interested in receiving pay bi-monthly or monthly and/or deduction for hot spot services through payroll. |
4. Schedule for Employee Negotiations
Description:
Please see attached a schedule when board members are available to meet for employee negotiations. At the bottom of the page you will find the different individuals or groups you're assigned to negotiate with this summer. I'm able to schedule meetings with secretaries and community education. I need to hear back from Tom when he is available for the other 8 he is assigned to. Yuk - that's a lot for one person. |
5. Summary of 2014 Legislative Session
Description:
Ewald Consulting complied a summary of the important 2014 legislative (see attached document). |
6. RFP for CM is Finalized
Description:
I did not hear back from any board members regarding the RFP for CM. Paul Youngquist was able to provide us with some helpful ideas/suggestions (see attached document). I used all of them in the Final RFP for CM. The attached document will be sent out to interested construction managers. |
7. Documents for Interested Construction managers
Description:
Please find attached the documents I'll send out to interested construction managers. The RFP is of course the most important document, but they should also have some background information on the scope of the construction. |
8. Available Practice Field Space for New Construction
Description:
Please find attached an email correspondence with Paul Youngquist regarding available practice field space for new construction of a gym, cafeteria, community education office and classroom, district office, and pre-K-K. |
9. Recommendation to Hire Mara Jacobson on Step 6 of the REM Salary Schedule
Description:
Mr. Swenson offered the business position to Mara Jacobson. I've attached her application cover letter and resume. I'm recommending we hire her on step 6 of the REM salary schedule. I'm able to offer her up to step 4 and the board can up to step 8 (without an agreement with REM for 9 or higher). The reasons are we received only two interested applicants and several other schools are struggling to fill their opening for business teacher. Mara does have 15+ years of teaching experience in Annandale, MN. I will bring this for board approval in June. Please call or email me with any ideas/thoughts/concerns. |
10. Weekly Bills
Description:
Please find attached the weekly bills for your approval. |
