June 20, 2014 at 4:00 PM - Superintendent's Weekly Update to the Board of Education
Agenda |

1. Locked Doors
Description:
The front doors were locked on Monday evening during our board meeting. We'll need to make certain they're not for future board meetings this summer. |
2. Changes to RFP Schedule for CM
Description:
Attached is an example of the email I sent to our interested construction managers. |
3. Comparative Worth
Description:
Kelsie has been working with Kathleen Murphy with Murphy Management Consultants on our comparative worth and equatable pay. Here are some of the following highlights we were told: 1. Salary schedules for employees helps a school district be in compliance with pay equity; 2. Our building and grounds supervisor has been underpaid by 25% or more; and 3. Nurse, HR/Payroll, and director of buildings and grounds positions are all similar in point values and ought to receive similar pay/health benefits. This will be a lot easier to explain to all of you face-to-face but here I go.... You will find two attached documents that can/should guide us in negotiations with various positions. The first one is the most recent comparative worth/pay equity document we submitted to the state mixed in with updates from our conversations with Kathleen Murphy. The second one is the hourly salaries for non-union positions. Highlights: 1. Sarah's point value is jumping from 198 to 307. She has the college degrees, license, and responsibilities of a community education director. I do have a contract prepared for the board committee that reflects this change. 2. The director of building and grounds points went up from 208 to 243. This may not seem like a significant climb, but the position was already 25% or more underpaid and should have been the same or near the nurse position. At a minimum the hourly wages should be the same. This would make the beginning salary for the new director of building and grounds at $51,480. Bill was making around $44,500. 3. You will see on the attachment updated in June 2014 the point values for human resource/payroll and technology support assistant. |
4. Director of Building and Grounds
Description:
Bill and I interviewed four candidates for the buildings and grounds position. I offered the position to Tony Duevel and he accepted. We'll need to work out a contract for him next week. |
