1. Equity Provision in House Bill that Gives Districts Below $300 per pupil Referendum New Revenue Money
Description:
Please find below an important and hopeful message from the Executive Director of Schools for Equity in Education (SEE) Brad Lundell.
Group: As the superintendents in SEE who work for districts with less than $300 per pupil in referendum revenue, there is good news in the House Education Finance bill. Article I, Section 14, of the bill revises a portion of the equity formula to provide districts with less than $300 per pupil in referendum revenue the difference between their current per pupil amount and $300 per pupil. In other words, if you have no referendum revenue, you will get $300 per pupil in new money. If you have $126 per pupil, you would receive $174 per pupil in new revenue (and so forth). This provision would take effect for the next school year (providing it passes). Because the levy has already been set for the next school year, the first year would be all aid and in subsequent years, the revenue would be aid and levy with the ratio determined by the first tier referendum equalizing factor. Call with any questions or comments. It’s my guess that the Senate will also be doing something for low referendum districts and I will let you know what that is as soon as it becomes known. You can then compare the provisions and provide me with guidance on which approach you prefer. At the very least, this is good news for all of you! Brad Lundell |
2. Tentative Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 Mid-State ITV College Courses
Description:
I thought the Board may be interested in knowing the ITV college courses taken by students at Royalton and other Mid-State school districts. The two attachments show the breakdowns by districts, courses, and number of students from each school in each course.
