March 8, 2013 at 4:00 PM - Superintendent's Weekly Update to the Board of Education
Agenda |

1. Advertising Sign Agreement
Description:
Please find attached the advertising sign agreement we're recommending for Board approval on Monday. The original draft was sent to our school attorney Kevin Rupp for review/recommendations. The most significant clarification was the Advertiser owns the sign and is renting space from the District. This coincides with our insurance agent's recommendation too. This protects the District from having to replace all the signs if someone vandalizes them or a tornado carries them away.

2. Kindergarten Enrollment
Description:
The number of registered kindergarten students has risen to 61. 18 are open-enrolled from Sauk Rapids/Rice (9), Little Falls (5), Pierz (3), and Holdingford (1). This is welcomed news as some of us were concerned with the lower numbers during kindergarten registration night. In previous years, we have been adding 15 to 20 kindergartners between late spring and the first day of school.

3. Approval Letter for Ramp-Up to Readiness
Description:
I'm very excited to share the good news regarding our approval letter to participate in the Ramp-Up to Readiness program. I am not only excited as superintendent, but also as a parent of three children in school.
In April, we'll know if our MS/HS begins in 2013-14 or 2014-15. |
4. Arbitrator is Named
Description:
Kevin Rupp and Darrell Baty have selected an arbitrator. We ended up with George Latimer, the former mayor of St. Paul. The next step is receiving available dates from the arbitrator.

5. Approval of Weekly Bills
Description:
