Description:
(The Board of Education may use this opportunity to pull items out of the consent agenda at regular board meetings to be voted on separately, or may add items for discussion purposes at regular and Committee of the Whole meetings.)

III. Presentations/Recognitions
Description:
(The Board of Education periodically hears presentations from students, District 33 departments and programs, and outside groups in order to keep the Board informed of District operations and opportunities.)
- Facility Use and Fee Structure - Fred Cadena and Kathy Wolfe (Fred Cadena, District 33's Maintenance Technician, will present information about facility use and costs to the Board. Consideration for a rental fee structure will also be presented.) |
IV. Public Comment
Description:
(Public comments (limited to 3 minutes each) are welcome at this Board of Education meeting. In order to conduct productive meetings, there will be no dialogue with the public about topics during this meeting. The Board may make a brief response to a public comment, or will provide for follow-up with individuals or groups at a later date, if the Board determines that issues require additional research. For certain issues that require additional understanding the Board may also schedule a special meeting where public dialogue can occur. Thank you for your interest in district issues and for your understanding of meeting protocol.)

V. Discussion of New / Ongoing Business
Description:
(At a Committee of the Whole meeting the Board of Education will be presented with information on a variety of topics that are expected to require board action at a future meeting. The Board has the opportunity to receive information, to ask questions, to discuss options, and to direct administration to continue working on an item. Items ready for a decision will be listed as an action item on a subsequest meeting agenda.)

Description:
(The Board will receive an update on revenues received from the State of Illinois and federal funds.)

(The Board will be asked to conduct a first reading on a number of policy updates that are prompted by legislative actions.)

Description:

(The Board of Education will receive a schedule for visiting District 33 staff during the school year.)

VI. Action Items *
Description:
(Although this is a Committee of the Whole meeting, there are times when action is required and can't wait until a regular meeting. Typically, the Board has discussed action items at a previous board meeting.)

VI.A. Approve contract for purchase of property
Description:
(The Board of Education will be asked to approve a contract for the purchase of property.)
|
VI.B. Review tax levy process and approve intent to levy resolution
Description:
(The Board of Education will review the process to levy (request) local property taxes. The board members will then review and approve the annual resolution declaring the intent to request the local property taxes to operate the District. The levy will be adopted at the December 15, 2011 board meeting, which is then filed with the County Clerk's office.

VII. Information Items
Description:
(There are regularly scheduled reports on a number of information items the Board wishes to track. Additional items are sometimes included to keep the Board informed of topics and issues that are related to District 33 or to public education in general.)

VII.A. Constitution Day, American Education Week, and Veterans Day activities
Description:
(The Board receives a report of learning experiences for students that relate to Constitution Day, American Education Week, and Veterans Day.)

VII.B. Fall Housing report
Description:
(The Board will receive this year's fall housing information which is enrollment numbers as of September 30, 2011.)

VII.C. Review school report card
Description:
(The Board will receive a report of student achievement as presented on the District Report Card. It should be noted that 80% of our 8th graders met or exceeded achievement standards in reading and 85% did so in math. This is a 40 point improvement from 3rd grade. Also, our students who are learning English, as well as learning IN English, exceeded two achievement stadnards with 99% making progress in acquiring English and 15% achieving proficiency in English. WELL DONE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS!)
