VII.A. Curriculum Change for 2025/26 **
Description:
I am happy to report that Introduction to Biotechnology was recently approved by the College of Lake County as a dual credit course that we may begin offering to students as early as the 2025/26 school year. Student registrations for next year are already complete, but course changes are permitted for a short period of time. The administration would like to offer this new opportunity for next school year to interested students and is requesting the Board of Education consider approving the course this evening. Mr. Taubery will be in attendance to present details of the course and answer any questions you may have.
Recommend approval of the DC Biotechnology course proposal as presented. |
VII.B. April Board of Education Meeting Date Change **
Description:
It is necessary to change the April Board of Education meeting date in order to comply with state law following the consolidated election. Within 21 days following the election, we will receive an abstract of votes from Lake County. The Board must then seat new members within 40 days of the consolidated election. With our regular April meeting date too early to have the abstract of votes and the May meeting too late to comply with the 40-day requirement, the administration is recommending we change the date of the April meeting to Thursday, April 24.
|
VII.C. School Board Policy Modification **
Description:
Legal counsel is recommending that the Board of Education readopt 2020 Title IX policies and procedures, on an interim basis. Based on judicial action, the regulations that were in place were invalidated and, as a result, the old 2020 regulations go into effect. It is likely IASB will be drafting a recommended policy, but legal counsel is recommending the previous policy be adopted until such time as we receive updated policies and procedures, to avoid litigation.

VIII.A. Banking Services Request for Proposals **
Description:
The District has had the same primary banking relationship for the last thirteen years. Over that time, there have been several situations where we have experienced some frustration. As a whole, we receive little to no interest on our checking accounts that we hold with our bank. Knowing that interest rates are higher right now, Lily Wu, our Fiscal and Accounting Coordinator put together a Banking Services Request for Proposals. We contacted eight banks that are in close proximity. Six of those banks responded giving us their contact information and five submitted proposals. Our committee narrowed the five proposals down to three finalists. Based on an assessment of interest minus fees, we are recommending the District switch banking services to State Bank of the Lakes/Wintrust effective July 1, 2025. With your approval, we anticipate moving some accounts prior to July 1, but they will all be moved by that date.
