1. Call To Order
This meeting is a meeting of the Board of Education in public for the purpose of conducting the School District's business and is not to be considered a public community meeting. There is a time for public participation during the meeting as indicated on the agenda. |

3. Citizen's Comments
This portion of the agenda is for citizens to address any questions or comments to the Board. The Board will listen, take comments and questions under advisement, and not respond at this time. The presiding officer will refer questions to the superintendent for research and response. When called on by the Board President, the citizen may address the Board for up to three (3) minutes during the citizen comment period. Citizen comment timeframe is limited to 30 minutes. |

4.A. Student Expulsion - Parent has requested Closed Session
Description:
Administration is recommending that the board expel the Ring Lardner student involved in Administrative Hearing #042823 for 180 school days. The student will have the ability to enroll in the WAY program with no initial lab privileges during the expulsion. In order to be considered for reinstatement before May 1, 2024 the expelled student must show excellent participation and success in the WAY program and not be in any violation of Niles Schools' code of conduct or Michigan State law. Dr. Burtsfield or Jessica Johnson will answer any questions.
SAMPLE MOTION: I move - "that the board expel the Ring Lardner student involved in Administrative Hearing #042823 for 180 school days. Description:
The board will recess the special meeting and enter into closed session as requested by the parents of the student involved in Administrative Hearing #042823.

4.D. Student Long Term Suspension
Description:
Administration is recommending that the board suspend the Ring Lardner student involved in Administrative Hearing #42823-1 for 30 school days. The student will have the ability to work on her classes remotely through Google classroom during the suspension. In order to be considered for reinstatement the panel will reconvene to review the students' performance. Depending on the outcome of that meeting the student may be allowed to return to Ring Lardner Middle School or receive a recommendation for an alternative placement. The suspended student must show excellent participation and success in Google Classroom and not be in any violation of Niles Schools' code of conduct or Michigan State law.
