I.E.2)a. 34th Annual National Dropout Prevention Conference: Kim Thalison, Director of School Wellness & Prevention Services, is requesting Board approval to attend the 34th Annual National Dropout Prevention Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, from October 13-16, 2024. The conference will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about national trends and best practices for academic engagement and dropout prevention. Costs are covered by grant funds.

I.E.3) Eaton RESA Extended COVID-19 Learning Plan Renewal: The Superintendent is recommending that the Board approve the revisions to the Eaton RESA Extended COVID-19 Learning Plan dated September 25, 2024, as required by Public Act 149, Section 98a.

I.E.4) Conflict of Interest Request: Steve Netzel, Program Director of MILearner Wallet, has been offered an opportunity to serve as a private consultant with districts across the state around curriculum and instruction for the MILearner Wallet program, and it would not exceed more than two days per month. This professional opportunity complements Steve’s current duties as an employee for Eaton RESA. He is requesting Board approval, as per Board policy 1130, to work outside of his current administrator role and work schedule at Eaton RESA.
|
I.E.5) Capital Area Michigan Works (CAMW) Agreement: The District began providing adult education program services on July 1, 2024, which was previously provided for by Potterville Public Schools. Office space for the director and support staff has been leased at CAMW for the past few years, and the District would like to continue with the arrangement. Tina Monroe, Executive Director of Finance & Operations, is requesting that the Board authorize the Superintendent to execute the lease and infrastructure agreements with CAMW in an estimated amount not to exceed $35,000. The agreement is from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.

I.E.6) Revised NONA Salary Wage Schedule: Tina Monroe, Executive Director of Finance & Operations, is requesting that the Board approve a revised NONA salary wage schedule developed to recognize the increased level of administrative work needed to manage the additional grants that Eaton RESA has received over the past few years.

I.E.7) Potterville Public Schools Business Services Agreement: Potterville Public Schools has requested that Eaton RESA provide business management and accounting services through June 30, 2025. Tina Monroe, Executive Director of Finance & Operations, is requesting that the Board authorize the Superintendent to execute the agreement that was approved by Potterville Public Schools’ Board of Education at their September 5, 2024, meeting.

I.E.8) Career and Technical Education (CTE) Sole Source Vendor Purchases: Vlad Lebedintsev, Assistant Superintendent for Career & Technical Education, is requesting Board approval to waive the bid requirement as specified in Board policy 6320 with the following sole source vendors.

I.E.8)a. Drive Square, Inc: DS-565-PRO Basic Square Driving Simulator, the EVO-Lite Option, and on-site training in an amount not to exceed $43,350. The cost of these materials is covered by 61i grant funds.

Aidex East Educational Systems: Engineering Construction Kit and Exploring STEM License Renewals to support our Industry 4.0 Labs in local school districts and StemPilot Edustation Pro, Minds-I UAV Drone Gimbal Rig, and the Matrix Wind Tunnel for our Aviation Mobile Lab and Aviation Careers Institute Classroom in an amount not to exceed $80,441.60. The cost of these materials is covered by 61i grant funds and CDS aviation program grant funds.

I.E.9) Conflict of Interest: Mary Ann Schmedlen, Early Mathematics Specialist, has been offered the opportunity with the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators (MAISA) to co-present three virtual 3-hour Number Corner training sessions. MAISA will pay Mary Ann $420 per session for planning/preparation/facilitation. Nate Leale, Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services, is requesting that the Board approve Mary Ann Schmedlen to contract directly with MAISA for the Number Corner training sessions, as per Board Policy 1130, to work outside of her current role and work schedule at Eaton RESA.

I.E.10) Center for Disease Control (CDC) Notice of Award: Kim Thalison, Director of School Wellness & Prevention Services, is requesting that the Board authorize the Superintendent to accept a Notice of Award from the CDC in the amount of $360,000 to provide supports for adolescent health education services, and Whole Child supports for school districts in the tri-county area. The award is from August 1, 2024, through July 31, 2025.

I.E.11) Mid-State Health Network (MSHN) Contract: Kim Thalison, Director of School Wellness & Prevention Services, is requesting that the Board authorize the Superintendent to execute an agreement with MSHN in an amount not to exceed $639,126 to provide prevention supports to Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties for programs, curriculum, community coalitions, evaluation, and training support. The agreement is from October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025.

I.E.12) Children Trust Michigan (CTM) Primary Prevention Partners Program Contract Renewal: Kim Thalison, Director of School Wellness & Prevention Services, is requesting that the Board authorize the Superintendent to execute an agreement with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in an amount not to exceed $30,000 to provide child abuse and neglect prevention services. The agreement is from October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025.

I.E.13) Michigan Primary Care Association (MPCA) Contract Renewal: Kim Thalison, Director of School Wellness & Prevention Services, is requesting that the Board authorize the Superintendent to execute an agreement with MPCA in an amount not to exceed $105,000 to support implementation of the Michigan Model for Health curriculum in schools (pre-k through 12) throughout Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties. The agreement is from October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025.

I.E.14) Taking Pride in Pregnancy Prevention (TPIP) Lansing School District Subcontract: Kim Thalison, Director of School Wellness & Prevention Services, is requesting that the Board authorize the Superintendent to execute a subcontract agreement with the Lansing School District in an amount not to exceed $41,500 to provide coordination, staffing, and support for the curriculum delivered per grant outcomes. The agreement is from October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025.

I.E.15) Child and Adolescent Health Centers Contract: Kim Thalison, Director of School Wellness & Prevention Services, is requesting that the Board authorize the Superintendent to execute an agreement with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in an amount not to exceed $275,000 for the implementation of a school-based health clinic located at Grand Ledge High School (GLHS). The agreement is from October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025.

I.E.16) Increase in FTEs for Special Education: Kelly Hager, Assistant Superintendent for Special Education, is requesting that the Board approve the increases of a 0.4 FTE school social worker and 0.6 FTE speech and language pathologist at a combined cost of $88,934. The increase in FTEs is being requested by Grand Ledge Public Schools and Potterville Public Schools for the 2024-25 school year.

I.E.17) Relevant Academy Board Member Recommendation: Based on the recommendation of Lauren Blakely, Executive Director of Relevant Academy, the Eaton RESA Superintendent is requesting that the Board approve the appointment of Ashley O’Bryant and Rachel Harper to serve a three-year term effective November 1, 2024, through September 30, 2027, to the Relevant Academy Board of Directors.
