III.A. East Lansing Basketball Club donated $6,250 to Middle School Interscholastic Sports Program

III.B. Congratulations to Representative Sam Singh for being the new Democratic Leader in the Michigan House of Representatives.  And, for his outstanding support of public education including the Females in STEM program in East Lansing.

III.C. Xzavier Odom, ELHS Senior, will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship at the Greater Lansing Area Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission's Annual Luncheon on Monday, January 16.  Xzavier earned this award for an essay he submitted in their annual contest.   At the next regular meeting of the Board of Education on January 23, Xzavier will be present to read his award winning essay.

VI. Consent Agenda 
Motion:  The Board of Education approve the consent agenda to include the following items:

VI.A. unpaid extended family medical leave for MacDonald Middle School teacher Joie Marinaro until the end of the school year. 

VI.B. unpaid leave of absence for High School Paraprofessional Sue Kramer from January 30, 2017 – March 3,2017,

VI.C. retirement of teaching staff member, Mary Lou Turnbull effective June 16, 2017.

Public Comment:    This is the opportunity to address the Board.  Speakers are to confine their remarks to five minutes.  If a speaker requires more than five minutes, after all other persons who have requested to speak during this part of the meeting have spoken, that speaker will be allowed additional time.  The Superintendent or other district staff may comment to clear up or avoid significant misunderstandings.

Motion:  The Board of Education approve the schedule of meetings for 2017 as presented.

X.B. Inter-Agency Agreement - Storm Water Program
Motion:  The Board of Education authorize the Superintendent or her designee to execute the Inter- Agency Agreement for Coverage Under the Phase II NPDES Permit as presented.  

X.C. ELL Para Job Description
Motion:  The Board of Education approve the reclassification of the ELL paraprofessional position to Category 3.

X.D. Bond Election - Preliminary Qualification Application
Motion:  The Board of Education approve the Application for Preliminary Qualification of Bonds as presented by the Administration, authorize the Board Secretary to execute that Application and direct the Administration to file the same with the Michigan Department of Treasury.

Motion:  The Board of Education approve the revisions to Policy 4510 - Computer Network as presented by the Policy Committee.

X.E.2. Policy 5202 - Social Networking Conduct 
Motion:  The Board of Education approve the deletion of Policy 5202 - Social Networking Conduct since the language of this policy in its entirety is now incorporated into Policy 4510 - Computer Network.
