E.2. Recommend Approval of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with J. David Lowell Foundation
|
E.2.a. District administration recommends approval of an MOU with the J. David Lowell Foundation to provide financial incentives directly to students for successful participation in accelerated mathematics courses including Accelerated Math 7, Grade 8 Algebra, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II, AP Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus. Eligible students would receive up to $100 at the end of the school year, with eligible AP Calculus students receiving a $2500 scholarship. This MOU would establish a pilot program this year and could be renewed in future years.

E.3. Recommend Approval of Position Description for Operations Specialist for Technology
|
E.3.a. District administration recommends approval to establish a new position of Operations Specialist for the Technology Department. The total number of positions within the District Technology Department would stay the same, but this new position would replace an IT Systems Specialist position that recently opened due to a resignation. The Operations Specialist's responsibilities would include purchasing, work order entry and routing, remote troubleshooting, and hardware maintenance and repairs. The starting rate of compensation for this non-exempt position would be $16.88 per hour, which is comparable to other Operations Specialist positions in the District.

E.4. Recommend Approval of Revisions to Position Descriptions
|
E.4.a. District administration recommends approval to revise the position descriptions for the following positions: Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Speech Language Pathologist Assistant. The revisions for each position reduce the prerequisite required experience. For example, the experience level for the position of Occupational Therapist has been revised from "Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience, general or pediatric" to "General or pediatric clinical experience preferred." These revisions are intended to result in more candidates applying for these positions.

E.5. Recommend Approval of Affiliation Agreement to Host Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Interns from Brookline College
|
E.5.a. District administration recommends approval of an affiliation agreement with Brookline College and Unitek Learning to serve as a host agency for clinical interns, primarily in pursuit of degrees as Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants. This partnership would remain in effect until either party chose to terminate.

E.6. Recommend Approval of Affiliation Agreement to Host Interns from the University of Arizona Speech Pathology and Audiology Programs
|
E.6.a. District administration recommends approval of an affiliation agreement to formalize a partnership with the University of Arizona Speech Pathology and Audiology programs to host interns in Flowing Wells. Approval would establish a five-year agreement, with either party eligible to terminate the agreement earlier if desired.

|
F.1.a. District administration recommends approval to renew the lease agreement with the Tucson Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Program (Tucson Electrical JATP) for the property formerly used as Sentinel Peak High School located at 1949 W Gardner Lane, Tucson, Arizona. The lease agreement dates are October 1, 2024 through August 31, 2025.

F.3. Recommend Approval of FY2025 Arizona School Facilities Division Capital Plan
|
F.3.a. District administration recommends approval of the FY2025 Arizona School Facilities Division (SFD) Capital Plan. The SFD requires a capital plan to be submitted each year. The plan includes enrollment projections. The attached FY 2025 Capital Plan assumes flat enrollment. The District is not requesting funds for new school construction from the SFD.

F.4. Recommend Approval to Contract with Fire Security Electronics & Communications, Inc. (FWEC) to Replace Hendricks Elementary School's Fire Alarm
|
F.4.a. District administration recommends approval to contract with Fire Security Electronics & Communications, Inc. (FSEC) to replace the fire alarm at Hendricks Elementary School. The original installed fire alarm is inoperable and obsolete. The district is not able to obtain replacement parts to repair it. The school has been on fire watch since the fire alarm went down. The purchase would utilize pricing through 1GPA Contract # 21-07P-10. The total cost of the project is $301,752.20. The project would be funded through a building renewal grant approved by the School Facilities Division (SFD).

G.1. Recommend Approval to Adopt AP Psychology Textbook
|
G.1.a. District administration recommends approval to adopt the textbook entitled Myers' Psychology for the AP Classroom, 4th Edition, for use in high school AP Psychology classes. This textbook is the updated edition of our current AP Psychology text and has been reviewed and recommended by the FWHS AP Psychology teacher. The book has been tabled for a period of 60 days for public review and comment, with no concerns submitted during this time.

G.2. Recommend Approval of Policy Revisions
|
G.2.a. District administration recommends approval of revisions to the policies listed below. Summaries are presented in the attached memo, and the full revisions are attached with strike-through text indicating deletions and underlined text indicating additions. These revisions were presented as information items for discussion during the Governing Board Meeting on August 13, 2024. No concerns have been raised regarding the draft policies. Only one revision was made since the August 13 meeting, with a correction made to the draft of Policy GCF to restore the existing time frame of seven days by which a professional candidate must accept a written contract offer before the offer is revoked.
