F.1. Review of Tax Credit Contributions for Calendar Year 2022

F.1.a. District Administration presents for review a summary of 2022 tax credit details by school. The Flowing Wells District received a total of $340,096 in tax credit contributions during calendar year 2022, compared to $261,486 received in 2021. School reports are attached, along with a chart that shows five-year trends by school.

G. New Business

G.1. Recommend Approval to Hire Assistant Principal at Flowing Wells Junior High School

G.1.a. District Administration recommends approval of Thomas Alcaraz to serve as assistant principal at Flowing Wells Junior High School, to become effective July 1, 2023.

G.2. Recommend Approval to Hire Principal of Centennial Elementary School to Become Effective July 1, 2023

G.2.a. District Administration recommends approval of Dr. Leslie Saulsby to serve as the next principal at Centennial Elementary School, to become effective July 1, 2023.

G.3. Recommend Approval to Table Illinois Biology Storylines Curriculum

G.3.a. District Administration recommends a sixty-day table of the Illinois Biology Storylines curriculum to allow for public review and comment prior to a formal request to adopt the curriculum for use with high school Biology courses.

G.4. Recommend Approval to Table National Geographic American Government Curriculum

G.4.a. District Administration recommends a sixty-day table of the National Geographic American Government curriculum to allow for public review and comment prior to a formal request to adopt the curriculum for use with high school U.S. Government courses.

G.5. Recommend Approval to Table National Geographic World History Curriculum

G.5.a. District Administration recommends a sixty-day table of the National Geographic World History curriculum to allow for public review and comment prior to a formal request to adopt the curriculum for use with high school World History courses.

G.6. Review of Proposed Revisions to Governing Board Policy GBC: Staff Compensation

G.6.a. District Administration presents for review revisions to Governing Board Policy GBC: Staff Compensation. Specifically, the revisions clarify when the one-time Special Longevity stipend is earned and paid.  The revisions also clarify the options for employees to defer the payment of the stipend. These revisions remove ambiguity from the policy and clearly align with our existing practices. The proposal also removes language about the District’s old support staff longevity scale and early retirement incentive policy. All revisions are documented with strikethroughs for removed text and underlines for new text. No action to be taken at this meeting.

G.7. Review of Proposed Revisions to Governing Board Policy IIE: Student Schedules and Course Loads

G.7.a. District Administration presents for review revisions to Governing Board Policy IIE: Student Schedules and Course Loads. The revisions change the required number of classes for seniors at Flowing Wells High School to five classes rather than the previously required four classes. This five-class requirement has been our practice at FWHS for many years in order to meet the required number of instructional minutes; this revision would align policy with practice. All revisions are documented with strikethroughs for removed text and underlines for new text. No action to be taken at this meeting.

G.8. Review of District Marketing Strategy

G.8.a. District Administration presents for review information about our strategies to market the District to attract new families and to retain students as they matriculate.
