5.A. Consent Agenda

Description:
The Lane ESD
Board of Directors has agreed to implement a consent agenda. All items in the consent agenda are adopted
by a single motion unless a member of the Board or the Superintendent requests
that such item be removed from the consent agenda and acted upon separately.
Generally, consent agenda items are matters which members of the Board agree are routine in nature and should be acted upon in one motion to conserve time and to enable the Board to focus on the other matters on the agenda. Back-up materials for consent agenda items are included in the agenda packet as needed. Minutes of this meeting will reflect action on each item. If any board member wishes to withdraw any consent group item, it will be moved to the appropriate section of the agenda. 6.C. OAESD Summit and OSBA Fall Convention

The Board will discuss the agendas and logistics for the OAESD Summit and the 2018 OSBA Fall Convention, November 8-11, 2018 (Thursday through Sunday), at the Portland Downtown Marriott.

6.D. OAESD Brochure Insert

The Board will review a DRAFT of the OAESD brochure insert for Lane ESD.

6.E. Superintendent Evaluation

Description:
The Board will discuss the evaluation of the superintendent. the
superintendent contract requires the evaluation to be completed by December
1. However, OSBA indicates that if both
the superintendent and Board agree to extend the deadline, no official action
is required. The Board will discuss using the following timeline:
The Superintendent Evaluation committee consists of the Board Chair and Board Vice-Chair. The Board will discuss how to process survey results. An executive session will be conducted in December to complete the review of the superintendent. At the Board's October meeting, the Board agreed to discuss superintendent salary as part of the evaluation. |
6.F. OSBA Elections

The Board will read, review and discuss the two resolutions proposed under the 2018 OSBA Elections Calendar. The member board voting period opens on November 1 and closes on December 14. The Lane ESD Board of Directors will make voting decisions on the resolutions at its December 4, 2018 meeting.

7. Information from Administrative Staff

Description:
The
directors of Human Resources and Title Programs, Special Education, Business Services, Technology and School Improvement have submitted written reports to the Board on matters of interest
concerning his/her area of responsibility. Technology There have been a lot of improvements in Lane ESD's Wide Area Network
service recently. Over the summer there were 6 districts who had
migrated circuits. Blachly was increased from 100mbps to 500mbps.
South Lane was increased from 1GBps to 10GBps. Bethel received an
additional circuit allowing for better reliability in the case of
outages. Creswell, Junction City, and Monroe, all changed circuit
providers in an effort to increase performance and lower costs. All of
the technical work for these migrations was completed by Jason Dodge, who
recently took and passed his Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing
and Switching Exam. Jason spent countless hours preparing for this proctored exam, which takes 90 minutes and consists of 70
questions. His expertise
and continued efforts are a vital to the technology services provided to
the districts in our region. |
