Public Comment Sign In Procedure - Anyone wishing to address the Board of Education must submit a written request form, found on the public’s table, prior to Public Comments.

The Board reserves the right to move into closed session to protect the public interest or needless injury to the reputation of an individual for any action item listed on the agenda. The Board may, at its discretion, change the order of the agenda to accommodate unforeseen issues related to an agenda item.

Rationale: 

The Ralston Board of Education appreciates the public's right to provide public comment.  It is the practice of the Ralston Board to listen to the public comment, without discussion between the public and the Board.  Should you have a question or ask for follow-up from the Board, the Board President will direct the Superintendent to address the requests and provide additional information to you as appropriate.  We ask that you refrain from personal comments about individuals and the use of vulgar or inappropriate language in addressing the Board. 

At this time the Ralston Public Schools Board of Education will entertain public comment.

Rationale: 

Consent agenda items include minutes from the November 26, 2018 meeting; November, 2018 Financial Reports, November bills in the amount of $586,238.59 for the General Fund, and $17,650.47 for the Building Fund. Prior to the meeting Tresha Rodgers and Linda Richards reviewed the bills.
Local substitute teacher requests for Amy Fay, Kayla Torson and Alec Williams.  Replacement contract for Kayla Torson; Wildewood, 2nd grade.

AdvancED Standard 1.8 - Leaders engage stakeholders to support the achievement of the system's purpose and direction.  Board Policy 2022, Reporting to the Public.

Rationale:  The District Legislative Team will conduct a discussion with the Board of Education on the development of District Legislative Goals for the 2019 Legislative Session.  Mr. Joe Kohout, District Lobbyist, will be on hand to share his insight and advice as well.

Standard 1.5 The governing authority adheres to a code of ethics and functions within defined roles and responsibilities.  Policy 2001 Role of the Board of Education. 

Rationale:  Dr. Michael Rupprecht will share information and conduct a discussion with the Board of Education about details involved with the External Team Visitation that will take place in February for Ralston Public Schools.  

The focus for this presentation will be on the following:

• ELEOT observation data and conclusions

• Part 1: 2017-18 (108 observations)
• Part 2: 2018-19 (112 observations - estimate)

Dr. Rupprecht will be sure to leave time for questions.

AdvancEd Standard 1.9 The system provides experiences that cultivate and improve leadership effectiveness.  Policy 2003 Development and Education of Board Members.  
 

Rationale:  Dr. Wilken and Dr. Welte will provide the annual update to the Board of Education as it pertains to the various and multiple things happening in Ralston Public Schools concerning multi-cultural education.

Standard 2.6 The system implements a process to ensure the curriculum is aligned to standards and best practices.  Policy 6020 Multi-Cultural Education.

Rationale:  Mr. Jeremy Maskel will outline the AQuESST Communication Plan for the release of information on Ralston Public Schools AQuESST classifications.  This information is embargoed until December 21, 2018.

Rationale: 

Dr. Adler and Mrs. Richards will update the Board regarding Legislative issues.
