9.1. Approval of the preliminary Petersburg Smart Start Plan that was created using the July 27th release of AK Smart Start guidance.

Description:
On July 27th, the Dept of Education & Early Development for the State of Alaska released new and more robust guidance for districts to use in creating their reopening plans, procedures, and protocols. Admin staff has worked over the summer to create the preliminary document that is presented. The Superintendent has the authority to make adjustments to the plan using the AK Smart Start guidance due to updated guidance being released, risk levels changing, student/staff health, staffing levels, and instructional needs.

9.2. Change the 2020-'21 School Calendar

Description:
In order to allow for a slow start and additional staff preparation time; the district is proposing a new student start date of August 31. The current start date is August 24th and this would allow for an additional week of in-service/preparation time. The week of August 31- Sept 4th will be a soft start where students may be invited into the school building to learn procedures, get comfortable with new protocols and reintroduce the community to gatherings of 10+ people. Sept 8th will begin a more robust schedule for students where they may be attending in person or online.

9.3. Acceptance of CARES act funding

Description:
Acceptance of CARES act funding from the Federal Government via the Petersburg Borough. The Superintendent will also give an overview of where the monies will be spent. CARES act funding has to be spent by Dec 31, 2020
