V. Reorganization of the Board
Description:
State law requires each school board to hold an organizational meeting following the consolidated election held in odd-numbered years (Policy 2:210). The following items will be addressed Tuesday evening as a part of the organizational meeting. When new members are seated they will first take an oath of office.
I. Selection of President and Secretary ProTem President
The Board will need to elect a President. Nominations will be asked for by the President Pro Tem. A second is not required for a nomination. A roll call vote will be used if there is more than one nomination. Secret Ballots are not permitted. Vice-President The elected President will preside going forward. The same procedure used for electing the President will be followed for electing the Vice-President. III. Appointment of Secretary The elected President will make the recommendation for Secretary. Lynn Krumlinde is currently the Secretary to the Board of Education and is willing to continue in this position until June 30. A motion will need to be made regarding this appointment. Once the new Secretary is recommended, the Board will confirm the hire. IV. Appointment of District Treasurer The elected President will make the recommendation for District Treasurer. Laura Hansen is the current Treasurer for the Board of Education. A motion will need to be made regarding this appointment. In June, the Board may choose to appoint Athena Dingels to begin as Treasurer in July.
V. Set Dates, Time, and Place of Regular Board Meetings. Currently, meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. I have included the calendar dates for Board Meetings based on the current schedule. The Board will need to review this schedule and make any changes the Board sees fit. A motion and second will need to be made followed by a roll call vote. VI. Designation of District Depository for District Funds VII. Adoption of all Existing Policies and Contracts of District 91
The Board President will make the recommendation that all existing policies and contracts of the Board of Education be adopted as official policies and contracts of the newly elected Board. VIII. Authorization to Sign and Activity Fund Checks
The Board President will make the recommendation for signing general and activity fund checks. Currently, the Superintendent and Bookkeeper are authorized to sign general and activity fund checks. The Board President will make the recommendation for the District Attorney.
Currently retained are Hauser, Izzo, Petrarca, Gleason, & Stillman, LLC and Franczek as District Legal Counsel on a per diem basis.
X. Authorize Continued Use of Consent Agenda It is the recommendation of the Superintendent to continue using a consent agenda as part of the Board’s regular meeting process.
XI. Appointment of Buildings and Grounds Committee Members The Board President will appoint or solicit no more than three (3) members to serve on the Buildings and Grounds Committee. Additional members may attend these meetings as they are open meetings.
The committee will need to establish a regular schedule and meeting time for these meetings. XII. Appointment of Finance Committee Members
The Board President will appoint or solicit no more than three (3) members to serve on the Finance Committee. Additional members may attend these meetings as they are open meetings. The committee will need to establish a regular schedule and meeting time for these meetings. XIII. Appointment of Athletic Board Liaison Members
The Board President will appoint or solicit one (1) or two (2) members to serve as liaisons between the District 91 Parent Athletic Association Board and the District 91 Board of Education.
XIV. Appointment of Negotiation Committee Members The Board President will appoint or solicit one (1) or two (2) members to serve on the District 91 Negotiation Committee. These individuals along with the Board President meet and work with the Association's Committee to bargain a contract for the certified teaching staff. XV. Appointment of Parent-Teacher Advisory Committee The Board President will appoint or solicit one (1) or two (2) members to serve on the District 91 Advisory Committee. XVI. Appointment of Governing Board Representative XVII. Appointment of Behavior Intervention Committee
The Board President will appoint or solicit one (1) member to serve as the Behavior Intervention Representative. Duties of this position are enclosed.
