XII.B. Consideration to Adopt Resolution for National Principals Month
Description:
Each October, National Principals Month recognizes the essential role that principals play in making a school great. Principals are among the hardest working, yet often least recognized individuals in education. Principals set the academic tone for their schools, and it is their vision, dedication, and determination that provide the mobilizing force for achieving student success. |

XII.D. IESA Ejection Fines
Description:
IESA will initiate fines associated with coaches and player ejections from games beginning with the 2020-2021 school year. For coaches: 1st offense is a two-game suspension and $100 fine, 2nd offense is a five-game suspension and $250 fine. For players: 1st offense is a two-game suspension, 2nd offense is a five-game suspension, and $100 fine. Players, coaches, and fans must complete a sportsmanship course as well. IESA will only accept a school check and players and coaches remain suspended until the check is received by the IESA.
We have not had a player or coach ejected in many years for unsportsmanlike conduct. However, we do believe this new rule should be taken seriously. |

XII.G. Additional Custodial Assistance (COVID-19)
Description:
With students back in the buildings, the custodians and Mr. Pierson are working hard to address the additional cleaning and sanitation requirements.
I have met with the custodians and Mr. Pierson to discuss the new cleaning and disinfecting protocols and hear from their perspective what is going well and what we need to rethink. There are a few obstacles they have had to contend with the largest being the sheer number of hours it takes to clean desk shields, bathroom partitions, and sanitizing touchpoints throughout the day. In summary, the additional expectations are being met but sustainability is questionable without additional assistance. I am immensely proud of our custodial crew and Mr. Pierson. They have been working hard and continue to brainstorm how to improve procedures to ensure that the cleaning and disinfecting needs are met. While we have added many new cleaning and disinfecting expectations, we have not added additional personnel. At this point, Mr. Pierson is coming in before his set workday to help complete any tasks that were not able to be addressed the night before. Mrs. Koziol was able to include the costs associated with additional custodial assistance in the ESSER grant budget submitted this week. This should allow us to cover the salary and benefits for the additional staff we need. We are still working to identify exactly how much additional assistance is required. Mr. Pierson and I will be available to answer questions you may have before or during the board meeting. |
