2.A. Superintendent's Report
Description:
1. Congratulations to Becker High School Senior, Austin Clemen. Austin took the ACT as a Junior this past spring and received a score of 36. A great accomplishment for Austin that deserves recognition.
2. Becker Public School District and all MN Public Schools have been approved for providing free meals to students for the 2021-2022 School Year. We will continue to participate in this program until further notice. 3. Planning for this fall is taking place. Our Executive Committee has created a plan for the use of staff development days for this coming school year. Principals and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Minda Anderson will lead staff development opportunities for all certified staff on designated days and throughout the school year. 4. We will have a School Board Work Session on August 18th from 5:30 pm-8:30 pm. This will be a discussion time with presenters that will help the board and administrative team to continue to meet the needs of all students in Becker Public Schools. 5. Accomplishments of Becker Public Schools during the 2020-2021 School Year include but are not limited to: Educationally -Keeping elementary students in grades PreK-5 in-person for the entire year except for transition days and extra prep time for staff due to Executive Orders. -Providing opportunities for all students to connect with our staff members through in-person and virtual learning. -Creating opportunities for all students in each grade to have a 1:1 device in school and at home. This includes providing hotspots for students/families to meet distance learning needs. -Developing summer learning opportunities for students with little notice. -Implementing training for staff members to utilize maximize learning opportunities with limited time with students. -Continue to provide our intervention services to both in-person and online students. -Completed all Fastbridge testing online. Including exceptional growth in the first few months of the school year based on these results. Activities -Providing opportunities for having fall plays, musicals, concerts, spring play in a new outdoor environment. -Winning our last football game of the year. -State boys tennis participants. -State Championships in girls basketball and softball. -Conference Championships in multiple activities. -State Gymnastics Participation. -Bradley Bible scoring 99/100 for top spot in state trapshooting. -Becker Bass placing 1,2,3 in one tournament. General -Creating a safe learning environment that included social distancing, face coverings, directional markings, signage, spraying/disinfecting. -Providing vaccines to our staff as soon as they were available. -Redesigning graduation for our senior students. -Providing lunches for students and families throughout the school year and summer. -Missie Olson as a finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. -Provided continuous daycare and Early Childhood opportunities for our families. |

Description:
The individual contract committee (Mark, Ryan, Sarah) is in support of the attached contract. I recommend approving the attached contract. Contract changes include language alignment and the listed financial increases over the terms of the contract of 2.59%.

4. GIFTS
Description:
Policy 706 Acceptance of Gifts permits the school board to accept donations or gifts under the terms of the policy. I recommend accepting the gifts as described on the enclosure.

5. POLICIES: ANNUAL REVIEWS
Description:
There have been no changes to the following policies since we reviewed them last July, 2020, with the exception of 806 Crisis Management which has substantial changes since adopted in 2005.
I recommend approval of annual review policies at this time.
