3.A. The October Student Spotlight will be from Briar Glen Elementary School. At Briar Glen, students at all grade levels participate in hands-on discovery activities. Students will be demonstrating their work on using the engineering design process to test and perfect simple machines. 

3.B. October celebrates National Principals Month. District 89 recognizes that principals love what they do and enjoy the many opportunities to share in the learning journey of the children in their school. We honor the work and commitment of our outstanding principals:  Emily Burnett, Mitch Dubinsky, Kristie Mate, Matt McDonald, Kim Price and assistant principal Antonio Diaz. 

3.C. Congratulations to Assistant Superintendent Maureen Jones and the CCSD 89 finance department, who were recently notified that Community Consolidated School District 89's bond rating improved to AA+. Only the most conservative and financially secure districts receive this rating from Standard & Poor's, which is a testament to the finance department's work and the Board of Education's commitment to fiscal responsibility. This AA+ rating is expected to help the insurance requirements for the upcoming bond sale and reduce interest costs for taxpayers.
