8.1. SCOTY Award Winners:  Jose Flores, Morton East; Pablo Escarcego, Morton West; Citlali Salas, Morton Alternative School and Miguel Sepulveda, Morton Freshman Center.

8.2. Elmhurst College High School Art Exhibit and Scholarship Winners

- Morton East - Cristian Velazquez - Cristian did indeed win a scholarship for Elmhurst College of $500. However, he will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign this fall. He was accepted last October. He is interested in pursuing an Engineering career in either Computers or Electronics. Since being at Morton East, he has been involved in Wrestling, Water polo, and the Mariachi band. Currently he is a member of the Mathletes Club. His favorite classes are AP Psychology and AP Statistics. He is a very organized and disciplined student who knew since the very beginning that he wanted to attend Urbana, and that’s why he only applied to that university. Once he has a goal in mind, he doesn’t stop until he achieves it. His family and his school are proud of his art achievement.

- Morton West – Mayah Negron was awarded a $2,000 scholarship for her entry in the Elmhurst College Art Show.  She is a senior at Morton West and has been enrolled in several art classes at Morton West and is considering studying Graphic Design in college.

Congratulations!!

Students who came to the art exhibit were treated to tours of the Elmhurst College art facilities and viewed artwork from students from Addison Trail, East Leyden, West Leyden, Lyons Township, Maine West, Morton East & West, Proviso West, Willowbrook and York High School. The art show set up in the Frick Center at Elmhurst College was on display through January 23, 2013.
