Mission Statement - Milford Public Schools will prepare all students to be successful citizens: Our Mission is fulfilled when all students read with comprehension, speak and write clearly, compute accurately, reason logically, understand and appreciate the fine arts, apply suitable strategies and habits of mind to solve problems, utilize technology to communicate and to understand information and behave morally.
This agenda contains a list of subjects known at the time of its distribution. A copy of the agenda reflecting any changes will be available for public inspection during normal business hours in the District Office. Except for items of an emergency nature, the agenda shall not be altered later than twenty-four hours before the meeting. The Board reserves the right to alter the order of items, as it deems necessary. |

This is the public’s opportunity to speak to items on the agenda. This is also the public’s opportunity to speak to any topic concerning the school district – since it is not an agenda item the board cannot discuss or take action on the matter at this time. Future discussion can be requested as an agenda item. To be recognized, all participants must complete the Request to Address the Milford Board of Education Form. No complaints regarding specific staff members will be heard during a public meeting. The District has established separate procedures for complaints against individual employees. Thank you for your participation. |

6.1. Act of Disposal of Property - 1991 Dodge Truck
More Information:
According to Policy 3019, the Board of Education should take action on disposal of property. Therefore, I want to discuss the disposal of the truck and have the Board act on this. A sample ad is attached.
Recommended Motion(s):
Motion to authorize Superintendent Wingard to dispose of the 1991 Dodge Pickup by sealed bid and placing a minimum bid requirement of $300. Passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.

7.1. Discussion on 2015-16 School Calendar
More Information:
I have a "rough" copy of a possible 2015-16 calendar. Just want to start receiving input from the Board of Education as we are starting to plan for staff in-service opportunities and other calendar items.

7.2. Act on the updated Nebraska English Language Arts Standards
More Information:
All school districts, under Rule 10, are to adopt academic standards in the subject areas of reading and writing (language arts) that are determined by each district to be measurable quality standards that are the same as, equal to, or more rigorous than the state academic content standards.
The State Board of Education adopted new English Language Arts Standards on September 5, 2014. You can find these at: http://www.education.ne.gov/ This is the website for the Nebraska Department of Education. The link for the new standards is located in the middle of the page, right below the scrolling information bar. I have also included (attached) a report from Dr. Olson. As we have in the past, we are recommending that we adopt the new standards set by the State.

Motion is in the executive Session Item and here as well: Motion to move into Executive Session for purposes of discussing Item VII.C - Student Individual Learning Plans Related to Graduation Requirements. Executive Session is necessary for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of the individual or individuals because they have not requested a public hearing. |

The Board of Education reserves the right to enter into Closed/Executive Session for 1) the protection of the public interest, or 2) the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and/or the individual has not requested a public meeting. When making a motion to enter into Closed/Executive Session, the member making the motion should be as specific as possible as to the reason(s) for Executive Session. I would like to move into Executive Session to discuss individual student learning plans related to graduation requirements.
