4.A.1. Consider suspending Prescott Unified School District Policy IC through June 30, 2023, as presented.
RELEVANT INFORMATION: Pursuant to Governing Board Policy IC (School Year), PUSD is required to be in session for 180 days for the school year. With the unpredictable, inclement weather during third quarter, PUSD had four full snow day closures, six two-hour delays, and one unscheduled early release, for snow-related issues. Rather than making those days up, the State allows school districts to track instructional hours instead of total number of days. PUSD has worked with the State, and each school in the district has enough student instructional hours for the school year to be completed. To make that conversion from days to hours, the governing board will need to suspend Policy IC, at which point district administration can finalize the conversion from instructional days to instructional hours with the State. The Arizona Department of Education School Finance has already approved these adjustments to our district calendar based on PUSD meeting required instructional hours. Please see the attached document for the exact snow day, two-hour delay, unscheduled early release dates, state requirements, and calculations. Presenter: Brian Moore, Chief Financial Officer
